No Offence to any Americans here but ...
Unlike the Americans to the south who decided to fight a war because Britain was decreasing the taxes on tea, and therefore caused the American tea smugglers the thought of losing money (and hence the Boston Tea Party).
Canada became a country through merit, first going through not one but TWO American invasions, followed by the distinction of our Veterans in the Great War, gave us respect on a international stage. Followed by a repeat in World War 2, solidifying Canada's role as a independent nation instead of a colony.
Disregard the stupidity of our Governments not to leverage our image more internationally, but kicking out the monarchy on the same grounds as the Americans is rather silly, silly enough the FRENCH living here help the British when it came to the Americans.
And if the French preferred to keep the Monarch rather then go the American way, well that tells you something.
