This would have been a very painful experience for all concerned....especially the horse.

If you have right seat driving there (?) the driver is dead. That would explain why all the police were just standing around in a circle and not doing something. The first fatality I worked was a car that hit 3 horses. One went through the windshield and killed the driver and passenger. You rarely win when you hit a large animal.

Indeed. In an accident of this type there are no second place winners. Do you have any details of this terrible accident? All the best...

Geeze, it kinda makes you wonder if that was a police horse and if anyone was on it? Sad

There wouldnt be any blood in this case visible on the outside. I'm surprised however that the horse entered how it did. The head would have to be down on impact which is unusual. I've seen some amazing animal / vehicle collisions but Its still surprising to see things like this.

Sorry guys, don't have any details of this one. The pic was emailed to me as part of something else. Can't even remember who sent it or I would ask them.

Doubt that it is a "photoshop" job, although they are getting pretty clever doing them now. I believe it to be genuine, but who knows.

Cheers, Vince

Hi

A little photo analysis (a little - like I'm not the #1 psychotic analyst when I get into it...) shows:

First: The shadows, reflections, pixel density and color ranges are uniform for the car and the horse, so either it's not a photoshop or the author is the luckiest guy in existence to find a picture of a car and a horse in just the right positions and just the right quality.

Second: The front-right hoof is visible to the right of the horse's right knee. (Do horses have knees?? I'm not familiar with equine anatomy...). It looks like the car and the horse had a head-on, with the horse turned slightly to the left of the line of impact. The bumper took the horse's front legs back, pitching the front of the horse down and towards the window, probably onto the hood. The car was going fast enough that it drove forward onto the horse, forcing it in through the windshield. This is borne out by the lack of skid marks or glass fragments on the ground, indicating that the actual point of impact was some distance to the rear.

Crying or Very sad Poor horse. Crying or Very sad

"I'm sorry officer! I didn't see the extremely large, pale animal directly in front of me in my headlights!!"

I'd be willing to bet a month's wages (big talk for an umemployed guy - that comes out to about $220) that the driver was in a recreationally altered mental state.

It kind of looks like being that it is an obvious Ford Focus, if the head wasn't down first, the horse would have cleared the roof with it's long neck then caved it in, not went through the windshield....... but i don't know?

The horse looks to be a good 10+ HH (help me out Bushy Cool ) and if that were the case, as soon as the horse knew what was going on, it was too late and didn't pick it's head up fast enough. Sad

I would (if this real) put the horse at 10 to 12 hh. Does look like a POA. It also looks like a composit photo....

HORSE IN WINDSHIELD - SURPRISE!

With a spectacular traffic accident in Middle Franconian living/Forchheim, a horse was hurled by the windshield of a vehicle. Four horses had broken out in the Dienmstag evening. A Haflinger was rammed by the passenger car and landed on the passenger seat. The 26 year old drivers remained intact except a shock, the animal was killed.

The actual site wouldnt load for me so I posted Google's catch of it Smile
