A New Year is upon us. Perhaps some of you, like me, ponder what firearms(s) you would realistically buy, new or used, if the gun and money were available.

This year I found a couple, a Model 71 Deluxe, and two Model 25s, 4 and 6", 45 Colt. Very Happy Very Happy All three were at bargain prices.

Now, the quest begins for a pre64 in 375 H&H in user condition.

Any dreams guns you are looking for?

I'm going to be getting myself a Dixie Sidelock muzzleloader Razz

After that if money permits I am thinking about a M1A or M700. Smile

On Saturday, I got a call from my gunsmith telling me that my rifles were done. He rebarreled an FN (1951 commercial action) from .30-06 to .280 Remington. The second rifle was a Sears FN Model 50 in .30-06 that needed a Timney trigger and a Buehler safety. I really like classic arms.

My next acquisitions will be a Marlin 1894 in .44 Magnum, a 1903 Springfield to be rebarreled into .338-06 and a Swiss K31 carbine. All the best...
Gil

P.S. Pop, I was in a gun shop back in September and saw a mint older .444 Marlin and brought it home.

I think my next are going to be after down sizing quite a bit more. I'm at a point that i have it.....but do i need it Cool

I have a S&W 500 which i like and shoot regularly, but to use it to it's full potential....i'll never do it. So, i'm getting rid of that and gettting a Ruger RH 44Mag and MKIII Hunter Very Happy

After that i'm going to make room for an AR-10 and a Glock 45L Very Happy

I think I'm done for a while. Picked up three .30's in the last year - a new Ruger .300 Win Mag last Christmas, a Marlin .30-30 mid year and a used Remington .308Win this Christmas.

But I still have a hankering for a Ruger #1 and a .338, and not in the same package.

Cooper is coming out with a center-fire repeater, so if the funds are there, that will be my next acquistion, however, I may have to sell a few guns to help pay for it.....

Howdy 10ring

It is seldom about "needs". It is all about "wants".

The best sales line at our gunstore is "because you deserve it!" At some point, like when you have started on gunsafe #2 or #3, it can be a cleansing excercise to sell a few safe queens and convert the combined cash into a very special firearm.

The ratty old Springfield 1911 becomes a Kimber and three Kimbers = a Wilson or Brown full custom. Three Savages = two Model 700s and four Model 700s = A Dakota!

Needs indeed.

Cool A Jim Chambers .54 cal Flintlock barebones kit, 42" Colrain Swamped barrel and one of his "Tuned Locks" the rest will be up to me. This will be the skeleton for my custom rifle patterned after those made in the shop of "Simon Lauck" in Winchester, VA @ 1790 - 1807. Simple Elegance!

Next is a Ruger MK II frame and Volquartson Barrel for lil critter huntin.

Also a full blown F-Class rig based on a Savage action, 29" Palma contour barrel in .260 Remington Improved, SSS Compitition Trigger and SSS Stock. I haven't selected a scope as of yet but I'm leaning toward a Muler to start with, New Company and very good prices. Cool

Tuesday, I stopped by one of my local gun shops to see what new offerings they had on the racks. Going down a line of firearms, one caught my eye… A pre J-lock Remington model 7 stainless with brown laminated wood stock in 22-250, an unusual combination. The rifle was listed as used but looked to be in mint condition. From the factory, the rifle came sans open sights. The previous owner left a set of Leupold mounts and rings installed. As I was giving the barrel a final look, I asked how much? To my surprise… $350, considerably less than expected.
The little “7” found a new home that day. Very Happy

Did I need this rifle? No, not really but I just happened to have a bunch of 22-250 cases someone gave me and nothing to use them in. Shocked Laughing
