Just wondering if any of you guys have heard of muntjak and if any of you have hunted these secretive little deer. I love hunting them and find a big trophy muntjak far more impressive than a big Red Stag!

We have them here they are allmost a pest espacialy if they get into your garden. they were released in the late 1800's and have spread over most of southern UK. They are not much bigger than a big hare and hard to see in cover. There is no close season on them as they breed all year round. Another name for them is Chinese barking deer. They sound a bitlike a small dog. Good eati'n tho'.

Cool Are these the deer that also have fangs? Or should I say oversized canine teeth. Seems that I once saw an article that called them the "Vampire Deer". Strange little critters, I'd like to get a few of these teeth for a necklace for my rondy garb. If you have some maybe we can work something out. Cool

That's Chinese water deer .Same person released those here as well altho' they haven't spread like muntjak. Water deer do not have antlers and use the tusks for fighting.
