S47 is the original designation for the Ruger Super Blackhawk and was characterized by an early semi-gloss and a later high polish finish. The old square Dragoon trigger guard was suggested by Elmer Keith and ole Elmer declared the S47 to be one of the best production revolvers he had ever seen.

Fittingly, Ruger has decided to bring forth a 50th year commemoration of SBH, high polish. No pricing available yet, but, mine is on order. These revolvers will have Micro sights, like the original early models.

An S47 three screw followed me home from our last big gunshow. It has been a blast to test fire and is extremely accurate. Bluing is missing from the front of the cylider and the muzzle from holster wear. I am refinishing the original walnut grip panels. No box or papers, but, the deal was too good to pass --- $245, one of the last hour desperation sales. Why no one bought during this three day show is befuddling as he was asking only $325, no tax, no paperwork.
