Neat! Its almost invisible there! I've always said that I don't trust the 10 pound ones, much less the 100 pounders!

And california said they counted all of them in the state by helo...Right. That's how they came up with the "fact" that they were endangered...

Nice photo

That's a great shot (mountain lion). I watched one for about 30 minutes in my crosshairs. Too beautiful to pull the trigger. I don't know if they are on the no-kill list down here or not. I just know that I do have some trouble with them scratching up cattle. So far, the worst thing that they've done is stampeed the cattle through a fence. Untill they start killing cattle, I'll leave them alone. I've got big brahma cross-breed cattle and they will fight to protect their calves, so I'm assuming that they, for the most part, leave them alone.

I thought you were talking about the rock formation in the middle on the right that looks like a bear sitting with its mouth open???

I assume your referring to the turkey then. First I've ever seen.

At first I was looking at the white thing at the top of the photo. I was thinking that it looks like a four-legged white bird. Ha Ha.

When I read your comment, I plugged in turkey and that made my comments look funny.

Cary,
I may be wrong also. I thought the white thing was an albino turkey. Hey my eyes are starting to fail me and I'm to stubborn to go get reading glasses!

Cary,
It is legal to shot mountain lions in Texas. TPWD likes for you to report siteing or kills.
TPWD has around 10 that are radio collared tracker. They also did a DNA study of ml and said the dna geentics study and it told them there are around 5600 in texas.
Here is one killed se of Fort stockton by a friend. He looks to be a big one. Most are are around 125 to 150 lbs.
I hunted on Huckaby Ranch (se of Fort Stockton) last year and they have 2 they killed & had mounted that came off of there ranch.
I have seen tracks of one on our land up near Quanah but have never seen one live. There track size is really scary. 4 inch wide by 6 inch long is what I measured where one crossed the road after a rain. It was tracking a deer.

And we have numerous sighting around the metro plex almost every year.

The ranch I was hunting on when I watched that lion for a legnth of time was not my own. When I told the rancher, he got a little mad at me for not killing him. He said that he was killing 600 pound steers. If I knew that, I would have killed him. He was walking along the side of a fairly steep cliff side and smelling in holes, I think he was looking for rats or rabbits, or what ever. I follow him with my crosshairs for at least thirty minutes. He was a big male that I'm sure weighed over a couple of hundred pounds. awesome site. He was gorgeous. I never once thought about shooting him. Besides, I was in an area that I saw a large buck the day before. I wasn't about to blow that one. I did get the buck later. He had a 24 inch spread with 9 points.

I'm the same Joe. I eventually picked his head, but I thought the rest of his body was hidden down amongst the rocks to the left of his head. I had to study it a while to pick the fact that he was laying on the rocks with his body to the right.

Great hunter I am eh.

Cheers, Vince
