The 2022 Whitetail Season was both good and bad for us this year. most people didn't see as many deer as normal despite there supposedly being large numbers of deer in our area. I did not hear near as much shooting as normal years. This is the first or second year that we have had an early doe season running the same weekend as our youth hunt. This season runs in October during prime duck season so I don't even bother with it.

This year like most years we could each shoot 3 deer by buying bonus permits. My stand happened to be the hot piece of real estate. a couple of days I spent the entire day out there and didn't see anything except the mouse that moved into the stand. But other days I see at least 2 deer a day. Most were deep in the brush where I couldn't shoot but were on the way to my buddies stand.

I did end up shooting two decent does and what turned out to be a small buck. I though he was another doe and could not see horns. I actually saw his little giblets before I saw the horns. My son shot a doe and his girlfriend shot her first deer. So five deer for us is a very successful year.

Congrats, wiersy, on your family's success. I expected more snow on the ground.

Thanks guys. We have been enjoying some delicious meals. I have made 50 pounds of hamburger and 30 pounds of breakfast sausage so far. We have used about six roasts for Thanksgiving making German Sauerbraten.

Vince we can pull up a stump around my firepit in the back yard anytime, throw some venny in the smoker and drink beer until its done... or we are.
