Mike (Milky) Davis...guess who

Milky has been at Woodley's for 9 years, he gained this nickname after being a milk man for 9 years and it has stuck!

He gained his heavy licenses through the YMCA in the late nineties. Milky kicked off his career at Woodley's driving silage trucks, soon after starting a fert spreading job became available. Milky loves working on his own, he knows how important this job is and takes pride in getting every job right.

During the winter months Milky is up bright and early spreading grit on our local roads around Geraldine. A job highlight in winter is the cattle cart down to Tarras, where Bec's his wife will often accompany him on this journey.

Working at Woodley's is a known quantity, with stability, great clients and work colleagues. Milky wants to continue driving a fert truck for as long as his body will let him!

#18 & #37 are his favourite trucks

What's the mesh for at the bottom of the windscreen?
I see them quite often on Australian truck videos.

Stone protection.
Some of us in the 3 world have dirt roads with rocks and stones designed to break windscreens.
Edit
Bushy, no emus in NZ, the buggers can't swim that far.
Kiwis on the other hand.........

and before someone makes rude assumption about the big black pipe up the front..there is two of them and they pivot down to about 45 degrees,I drive OVER sprung fences, they push the wires down and front wheel goes onto them...pipes run length of truck and wee way out he back, saves me heaps n heaps of time per day....

Trying to imagine the pipes that run the length of the truck, is it there all the time? would it hit the bumps on the road?

Perhaps one day when I travel to NZ I can bring you some of my signs Laughing

your signs would be greatly appreciated...the pipes are about 12" off road surface,,,basically at axel height....they dont need to go under front axel so stop before it and start after it..the fence is under tyre them up onto next bar...slides along then goes under rear tyre and out back onto tail end pipes...its been an interesting task/journey to set them up right...lots of trial and error....first set were under front axel so stopped it dropping...terrible to corner and hard as heck in rutted paddock...first rear bars stuck out like wheelbarrow handles, but stuffed up exit angles, every time I went over wee ditch/irrigation rut, they got bent..pretty much got things ironed out now....bits of correctly sized alkathene water pipe make good emergency joiners and extentions too, they bend and spring back rather than break.

my last day with them today, been a heel of a ride but it was time to get off.
10 1/2 years of loyal service, put my heart and soul into the job but finnally decided it was time to get out while I still have my health and can hold my head high and say I gave it my all. the last 12mths have been very hard on body, the IVECO truck they bought me was a bucket of poohs...it beat the crap out of me everyday and I was becoming an even grumpier old man so Ive got out...
close one chapter of my life and start another.... back when I first found this site I jokingly refered to myself as "the spanker from Anchor who deosnt drive a tanker" as I was an Anchor milkman....well now im going to drive a milk tanker...hopefully the job and I can gel and I can see out the last 20 years of my working life in relative comfort...
today has been VERY emotional for me...work put on BBQ breakfast with most of the gang in attendance, owners of company were there, great to see them and got lots of handshakes and man hugs.... funny this afternoon I was sowing my last paddock and it struck me that 10 years ago I was learning to sow in very same paddock,I remember it because we hit an irrigation rut so hard the fella training me was thrown out of seat..... somethings dont change.
cant believe how emotional Im feeling about it all.... I can see how retirement gets to some folks, loss of sence of usefullness etc.
Looking forward to sinking teeth into new job...start Monday with 2 weeks in classroom....THAT will be a great break from spine jarring bouncing around paddocks LOL.
