I've nine 22-250 loads I want to test, all done & ready & we've been put into lockdown again as from midnight tomorrow because of this more infectious virus variant.
Can't get out before that, as I'd arranged to to this on Saturday on land where there's no livestock, a good backstop & no people to annoy (yes, we even have firearms hating Karens & Darrens here in rural Cumbria).
I NEED these done in the next three weeks, as it's a new rifle & I have three farms where I do fox control to reduce the number of lambs the buggers kill.

This is SO damn' frustrating. burr

I've got a niece visiting Gettysburg, PA right now and I was telling her good places to eat. Forgot that PA is locked down and the places are closed, or only doing take-out.

I have all my reloading done for two years... Working on year three. I may need to invite my kids to the range as soon as it warms up enough.

Mike,
Its a pain, its invasive, its a total embuggerence and unfortunately totally necessary.
This new bug has a 1.25 transmission rate at teir 2 restrictions, which means its still spreading vs the "normal" strain spread rate of .85 (decreasing) at teir 2 restrictions.
Welcome to the new ops normal until the vaccines start being effective.
Australian states are slamming their borders shut again and imposing quarantine and limited lockdown in effected areas.
Weve also found a South African strain as well as the English variant, both while the carriers were in compulsory hotel quarentine, but it seems the English one has made it out to the community.
Post the results of your tests when you eventually get to your range, we're all living vicariously through someone these days. Tag you're it....

well folks, just spent 3 wonderful days with friends, finally managed to sight in the 22lr...took me a few shots as older scope is 1/2" per click and moves POA not the usual POI.......been down this rodea before so sussed it reasonably quickly.
managed to spot a few of my pet deer, too far away for decent photos this time and rookie mistake hadnt recharged camera batteries before leaving home....
Mike....how much difference (real world Vs head) is it going to make????
the one Im using..bull barreled rem 700 ....seems to poke just about everything into near enough same place...sub 250yards its popping hares with no issue no matter which round Im feeding it......unless you headshooting foxes at over 200 yards will minor POI differences matter????
life will go on,you may not need to stress about your load testing is what Im trying to say.....
good luck and stay safe.

Significant differences I should think, as I've bullet weights of 50, 52, 53, 55, 60, 63 & 68grains loaded for testing, with four boat tailed & 5 flat base.
I'm looking to pick two loads - one lighter for up to 150yds & one heavier for longer shots.
I haven't even had an opportunity to put a single round through it, never mind get the rifle/scope combination basically zeroed.
I'm tempted to sneak out with the boat tailed 55gr loads & hope to get it squared away enough to use for now.

English Mike, I'm using a 55gr E-Tip in my 224 Valkyrie (1:8 twist) at 3400 fps and its vaporizing everything I shoot with it. Raccoons, coyotes, and even large hogs. I shot a buck at 75 yards with a broadside lung shot on New Year's Day and it dropped like a sack of potatoes. The bullet is fully expanding and sheading its 4 petals which has been devastating. Seems like this one bullet is getting it done for me.
