yes, once youve been on a truly fast horse, that has put bit between their teeth and bolted, life is never the same again....mates Arab would drop her arse and legs would splay as she took off, almost like she was spinning rubber.Ive dismounted 10 yards into bolt and smacked horse around gob then leapt back on and carried on,horse didnt know what to think but behaved perfectly from there onwards....note to self, punching horse is hard on fist...dont try it on top of the head or bones do cracking noises...same goes for labrador dogs....

Been there, done that...it ain’t nice. Last horse that bolted on me was a smart bugger. Only way I could stop him was to haul his head around hard so he couldn’t see where he was going, so to turn he had to slow down. But then he got even...bastard walked over to a barbed wire fence, leaned against it, with my leg between him and the fence, and proceeded to walk along said fence. Ruined a good pair of jeans and scratched my leg up some chronic...mongrel.

I think a horse bolting has happened to just about every rider. I pulled the reins hard back and low so the horse could see its feet but not much else. After a bit of bucking I turned the horse around and walked her back the way she had come and then turned her back to and walked her to trace her run. My mom and wife ran up and told me they thought I was going to be thrown... what and let that overgrown dog win? Horses have always seemed like dogs - they are smart and ever alert. The fact that they weigh as much as they do does make them a bit more menacing but they have to know who is in charge.
