Be kind to each other, help each other, do not give into or condone bad behavior from people panicking. Turn the friggin tv or radio off and go play a boardgame, clean that closet you have been meaning to clean. Pray. A positive attitude does not always work, but, a negative one NEVER fails. I and my family are okay. I shall not pass on any information that does not come from a100% VERIFIED source. I suggest you do also. Good luck to everyone. Sage advice...thanks Ron. Oh, and don’t take any notice of all the garbage media hype.

We had a 5.7 earthquake here yesterday morning. It really jolted us. I was centered about 35 miles north of me. No damage.
It was a crazy stroke of luck but I had put down $100 on a new generator the day before. The morning of the earthquake there was a huge run on generators and the dealer called me up to say "come get it now".
It was a new Honda EU2200I and they've been restricted from selling due to a recall item. I put the $100 down to get the first "repaired" unit they were going to sell when they got parts. They decided to sell what they had now, and people can bring them back in a couple weeks when parts are in to get the recall work done. Crazy lucky timing

That was quite a ride. My school was rocking and rolling, but didn't make a creak, crack or groan. Maybe these seismic codes really are worthwhile.
It is really quiet around here with no students. They only show up for lunch if they can get here. I really hope the ones that need it the most are able to get here. I'm worried about those that don't get much to eat at home.

Yea I hear that, alot of people are surprisingly unprepared for this. I hope it works out for them.
I hear the run on guns and ammo is pretty crazy atm... you worked the desk at gunnies since this went down? I got pretty well stocked up when the last run ended and things returned to normal.

As my Hero of long ago stated..."What? Me worry?"
I still say it's just another strain of the flu. We have a "FLU"pandemic every year.

Several magnitudes worse than flu.
Flu death rate: 0.1% or 1 in a thousand.
Covid 19 death rate 3-7% or 3-7 in every hundred & projected to reach 8-11%.
Flu kills 500-650,000 globally every year with a reproduction number R0) of 1.3.
Covid 19 has an estimated R0 between 2.3 & 3.4, meaning each person who gets it infects more than twice as many more people than someone with flu & that increase is exponential
It's reckoned 36 million US citizens get flu every year & around 22,000 die.
If just twice as many get covid-19, it'll kill around 2 million US citizens, minimum.

There's the key word "estimated". They don't know. I had (I think) the flu the other day. Was it coronavirus? I don't know. I just know that my beer didn't taste right. Other than that, I went about my usual business.
I sure as hell am not going to go into deep (77 year old) panic. Besides. Who's going to feed my horses?
Also...I'm married to an EX-mormon. We've been prepared for something like this for years.
You take good care of your friends near you.

Gunnies has been stupid. More panic buying than the obama years. Then it was just a "get on while I still can" attitude. This is a "get one to protect my family" panic. And they are not just getting a gun and a couple of boxes of ammo. They are getting at least one for every adult in the house and thousands of rounds. It is nuts.

On the plus side, at least half of those buying will realise things could have been a lot worse, had all those (il)liberal gun control laws ever been passed.
Here in the UK, there's less than 160,000 out of a population of 68 million who have rifles & another 550,000 with shotguns.
On the plus side, that means those of us who DO have firearms are far less likely to encounter armed bad guys...

I just wonder how many of those that are buying guns today were clamoring for more gun laws last month.
