Vince mate the duck went in the freezer for later, we had home made bacon & egg pie made by SWMBO delishimo and the boy and I had hare steaks afterwards wtf

. the young fella snotted the hare over with the .410 yesterday and I made him do the gutting bit in the field and the skinning bit at home then showed him how to remove 1 back steak and he did the other. My kids wont starve from not knowing how to feed themselves. Yip Im a proud dad and pleased to be one. Very Happy

Well done mate...its good to hear that some kids are learning to live off the land today.

How fast can he dress a rabbit/hare mate? These days I can do one in a couple of minutes...and get limited gut on my hands courtesy of a mate who showed me a couple of tricks.

hes slow at this stage cause he hasnt done many.
the quickest way Ive seen is to cut straight across the saddle grab both sides of the skin and pull in opposing directions the skin comes off easy as. a slit across the belly just infront of the back legs and a squeeze from ribcage towards the buttend and out pops the poohs n wees bits. this takes about a minute. I can still skin out a possom in around the minute mark.

Pretty much the way I do them mate...although once I have skinned the rabbit, I run the knife up the belly and open the ribcage, grab the back legs in one hand and the front in the other, then give it a good strong flick...everything goes GALLOOMPH, SPLAT onto the ground. Laughing
