Folks,
I was in a local gun shop today and the topic of discussion was a Kar98k rifle from WWII. It was a dou44 with an aftermarket stock and evidence of some color bluing on a few of the metal parts. The shop was acting as the receiving FFL dealer for an internet purchase. The fellow that bought it paid $1,500.00 according to the copy of the receipt enclosed with the rifle. The shop owner and customers were amazed at the price. I offered to sell a few of my '98 Mausers for that price. All the best...

Dam thats way to high, I'd rather buy a Michell's Mauser for 1000$ which is basiclly a new Yugo copy of the Kar98K with all the accessories. Shocked

There "M48 Collector Grade Rifle" sell for 300$ I could buy 5 for that price. Very Happy

It was a run of the mill '98
The ironic thing is that the shop has better original '98 Mauser rifles on the racks for about $300.00 or less. None of the shop customers would have paid more that $300.00 for the rifle. The consensus of those in the gun shop was that the customer probably did not have a clue about military rifles or was perhaps hyped and scammed. All the best...

P.S. Dimitri,
The Yugoslav Model 48s are not really Kar98ks. They are clones.

Yah I know there Yugo clones. I called them "Copies" up there.

But honestly they are almost the same. I only know of a slightly shorter action on the Yugo models (Atleast thats what I read). Smile

But if I was in the market for a 98 Mauser actioned rifle I'd pick up a Yugo since they are in like new condition then pick up a 60 year old rifle that it being online hoping I ordered a good one. Well thats assuming I order it off the internet, which probrobly wouldnt happen I dont like to gamble my money Very Happy
