I had frogs in Greece, was not bad. Makes me wonder why I was fishing after catching frogs when I was little (bass eat frogs mainly here, and I am not a fan). They are not too bad and somewhat tasty when prepared right.

Frog legs - trimmed at the pelvis, breaded and fried hot.
Tastes like "fishy squirrel" - not like chicken.
Those poison toads are nasty - in some places the crows and ravens have learned to turn them over and eat from the stomach side so they don't get poisoned.

Yep...them birds is smart Paul. It is surprising how many of the birds out here have learned to do the same thing. I don't have a problem with that, only thing I don't like is the toads will eat the smaller native frogs, which is a bad thing.

Vince,

Sounds like the floods are backing off a little for y'all. I hope you are still high and dry.

Down here, we are finally getting a little rain. A little over an inch isn't much, but it's better than dust.

We are still waiting for winter to set in down here. We've had two or three frosts, but that's about it. Everytime the sun come out, we have 3 inch grass hoppers crawling around. It hasn't been cold enough to kill them.
All of the cold weather has been moving from west to east, from north Texas to the north.

Keep your powder dry.

Cary

Mates,
Some Queensland town are due to be flooded AGAIN..
Victoria started to get inundated, 3000 people has been evacuated.

It is bleak news here.

OTOH, there are THOUSANDS of volunteers helping strangers to clean their property and street..
True Aussie spirit at its best!!
Aussie Aussie Aussie!!!

Yeah...you are right Gelan...the way people have come out of the woodwork to help there fellow man is nothing short of magnificent. But as Gelan says...that is the Aussie way.

At the volunteer centres this morning, the queues of people registering to assist was up half a kilometre long...and that was people on foot, not in cars. This is happening at every registration site for the past 3 days.

I have a bad back and knees, so it is a waste of time me going, I would just be in the way, but if I could, I would be there. Makes me feel like I am letting the side down, but I suppose a little common sense should prevail.

Cheers, Vince

Yes mate...the Big Wet is actually well under way up north...but that is a regular occurrence...it has no effect on us down her in Brisbane.

We are currently sitting back watching a cyclone "umming and ahhing" about crossing the coast, but again...it is way way north of us, and is also a regular thing this time of year.

A man with bad back and dicky knees is much better employed keeping the chilly bin full and the "pig" ready for any relos or mates needing a place to go walkabout to.you look after yourself ol bean and let the younguns get out and do their bit for a change.

Yep...you are totally correct Elvis...but I still feel bad that I can't do my bit to help mate.

I think its something that is part of our generation...look after your mates...and anybody else that is in strife.
