Picked up my 06 yesterday afternoon and bought it home, I will take it to the range later on today and give it a test.

I still have not received a reply from Remington but my gunsmith told me to make copies of the final bill which I will get on Monday after I pick up the 2nd rifle and send the copies to Remington and see what happens.

Just got back from the range with the /06 and after firing 100 rounds through it this am, it worked great. As I said earlier, I pick up the 270 tomorrow and then will send a bill to Remington.

The reason I opt not to send the guns back to Remington was it is to close to deer season (I hunt Wisconsin also) and begins on Nov 20th. I was not taking a chance on not having the rifles back in time for the hunt.

Also I still have not heard a reply from Remington as of yet, the total bill for me will be $180.00 plus tax for both rifles. My gunsmith didn't charge me any labor because I do all the electrical work at his shop for cost of parts only. He's 82 years young and still strong as an ox.

I hope Remington does the right for all the owners out there and steps up to the plate.

Vince
It sure would be intersting - to be able to do that .
On this puter you have no sense of a lads tone when he is typing nor mood . you could be laughin, jokin', or just being the clown.

Wouldn't it be grand to get together somewhere and have a few pints around the barbie .I might muster the moose steaks !!

Picked up the 270 this am and headed out to the range, shot real good but I just have to get used to unloading it in the safe position now instead of the fire position like I used to have to do.

Also both rifles now have the xmark pro trigger which does not have the connector anymore which can cause problems. I was advised by my gunsmith to send the bill to Remington notarized with out the old triggers unless Remington specifically asks for them. So the copy of the notarized bill was just mailed and will wait and see what happens.

I wonder who is being "economical with the truth" here; the Portland Police chief or Remington?

"Chief Craig told the newspaper that the department had contacted Remington about the problem but was told the weapons were no longer under warranty."

"......Remington's VP telling their side of the story. It was to no surprise to hear they were never contacted by military or police in regards to supposed issues."

Gun manufacturers usually void warranties when alterations have been performed !!! If there were no alterations made I don't understand why they would have been told that !!!

Mate...it would be absolutely awesome to have a Gathering of the Greatest from The Nut. Unfortunately, with the geographic spread of everyone, it would be near impossible to organise. I know for one that I could never afford the trip. Sad Sad Sad

Vince, we could come your way but we might be mistaken as an armed invasion!

Any department ( GOV. and or police) are not going to take the rifles out of the box from Remington and use then as we would .
They are reworked to their own requirement . For some one involved in the use of said firearm should know they are far from a factory unit , or they never handled a unit and compaired it to a factory gun .
Likewise police car's . their is more to them , then just a plane jane car with hub caps , where we would get the wheel disc.

Do you now concur with me that some of these guns may have been altered ?

I don't dispute there is issue......you obviously have one that did pose a risk. I still believe that the report was bias and does not reflect the situation properly.

All the 700's I've seen fire without pulling the trigger were modified by their owners. All of which were to cheap to purchase a quality aftermarket trigger that would safely go to the 1.5# let-off they were looking for.

By the way........most parts needed for police interceptor vehicles are readily available at most part stores and dealership service departments.

Yes Some !!
And I do agree "ANY" gun were the triggers have been home modifyed with a very light trigger pull , could go off . There is a fine line where a trigger is safe and then unsafe when you have gone too far.

But the gun I had "When " it misfired had not been modified period . And I know of others that have stated that their guns as unmodifed had gone off with bolt closing and or letting the safety off .So the statement that the guns that have been modified are the guns that have a problem IS- BS!!!!
[i]I am agreed
Standing on it's own the trigger has a design flaw , and WHEN YOU modify it , then you might well be making it a bomb.

Just a note on my M700's, the 270 and /06 were both brought brand new and both rifles were never had any trigger adjustment what soever. The epoxy or glue that Remington uses at the factory was still intact on the screws in both rifles.

I have sent Remington letters both E-mail and Usps, and am still waiting for a reply.

Maqwa, Thank you for understanding the emphasis on the word some

But......I think your still missing the fact that no disputes your claim to having a AD with an unmodified trigger..........we believe you.
We can only give the knowledge of what we've experienced ourselves and that has obviously been a good experience with no issues in regard to the 700 !!!

wtf I think it's time for me to grab one of Vince's beers now !!! (He loves it when we raid his cooler) Cheers
