I finally got tired of having this one molar bugging me all the friggin' time, si made an appointment today(Cathy has been dealing with a migraine for a solid week!) and got it pulled out!!!!! Now my face is still sore! But I know it will go away in about a week or so. I am happy to be rid of this little B-Tard!!!! HA HA!! Well not that funny at the moment, but it is funny! And I got this really good southern drawl!! I do accents very well but now I can do one without trying! Grand total = $336US and about three hours total time.
had to wait for a slot to open as it was an emergency pulling.

Well done Arron...not everybody enjoys a trip to the Fang Farrier (Dentist).

Personally I don't mind it...I have been known to nod off in the Dentist's chair...unless of course his nubile young female assistant is massaging the side of my head with.... Very Happy Razz Very Happy

You are far better off without that nasty tooth mate...next step for would most likely have been an abscess, followed by a Root Canal Therapy...or pulling anyway. Worse thing about an abscess is that the novacaine doesn't always work fully. Been there, done that...TWICE...not pleasant mate. Shocked Shocked Mad Evil or Very Mad Mad Evil or Very Mad Crying or Very sad

Cheers, Vince

Sometimes you have to undergo some temporary pain and expense to remove a problem for your long term benefit. A lesson our Govt. should learn...

This thread has brought up some terrifying memories! Back in 73 i had a molar in my left side jaw that had a deep hole in the middle. After dinner one night i got a tooth pick to clean out the hole like i did every night.
I must have hit a nerve as the pain was instant & acute! Rinsed it out with a mouthful of Jacks trying to numb it! Long story short, i put up with it for a week hoping it would go away. My left side of my face looked like i was hit with a baseball bat, until enough was enough! Went to emergency where the dentist hit me up with novocaine, and then informing me that the tooth had to come out in two pieces. He produced a stainless steel corkscrew device that he placed in the hole. Slowly turning the corkscrew until the tooth snapped in half! That's when all hell broke loose, as i grabbed the chair in a vice like grip. Oh my God he said, as he informed me that the anaesthetic hasn't taken hold due to an abysses he missed! After i asked him in no certain terms what was he going to do about it, he said he had no choice but to extract the two halves, as it left my gums open to serious infection! I thought the white hot sering pain couldn't get any worse, but i was wrong! Finally, the two halves were out, and the pain started to slightly abate! Never in my life, then or since have i ever felt excruciating pain like that! After rinsing he informed me that it will cost me $60.00. Right or wrong, & with murder in my eyes, i informed him he had two options, Fight me, or take me to court, where it would please me immensely explaining to the Magistrate why i refuse to pay a Quack who is not fit to be a horse doctor! Needless to say, he took neither option, and i walked out never to return! Right or wrong to this day i make no apology!

Aaron!! way to go! You have to do it, and you have to do it as soon as possible, that's the rule. Now you know. Pain doesn't just go away with teeth. It'll infect you all the way to your brain if you wait long enough. Thank goodness you got-er-done! Just look what happened to Erny!! Yeouch!!

Erny your graphic details leave nothing to my imagination, the cork screw thingy is the worst. I'm going to have nightmares over that one. You didn't want to give him 60 bucks? I would have kissed his hiney for relieving my pain!! I had a tooth removed that was fused to the bone and I know what you mean about pain. That's bone surgery to your face!! and it's not something a pain pill will abate either. I took really strong pain pills and all it did was make me forget what day it was.

Sorry about that Suz, i hope your nightmares won't be too bad!LOL. but honestly mate, it had nothing to do with money, it was a matter of principle. Surely a competent professional would have checked me first then prescribed some antibiotics & painkillers, and told me to come back in a week when the swelling and abscess subsided? No, he failed to exercise Due care, and went straight for the kill. In my defence i was young, stupid, and hot tempered, especially when i am in whiter hot pain!
I was lucky i had a lot of self control and didn't act on my impulse, as i was rope-able! I would also like to point out that was the only time i refused to pay a bill, excluding traffic fines that were wrongly & illegally issued because i rode an iron horse without a helmet,(With an exemption) which the police hated. But that's another story! Smile

Cheers Erny.

Hey Stovepipe, In answer to your question, it's nothing to do with our beer mate, I reckon it's in the Jacks & wild turkey, we import from you guys! Razz Although, i suppose our Bundaberg OP Rum, can be held responsible to an extent. Very Happy God only knows how many pub fights started due to that little drop! As for the door knob, since my experience with the cork screw, i have done my own dentistry using, sterilized pliers out of my tool kit & the aforementioned Rum or Bourbon for anesthetic & rinsing. Over the next 37years (To my families distress & disapproval) i have pulled them all out except three that had mercury fillings, so i thought it prudent to go to a pro to get them extracted & get fitted for dentures!
Funny thing, when i ask the dentist if i could keep the three teeth as souvenirs, he refused saying it's against health regulations, which i thought was a bit strange!

Cheers Erny.

Hey Stovepipe. Yeah mate, they have been using Amalgam which is a Mecury based filler since year dot! It's just recently that they discovered that Mecury gas was released from the fillings and was highly toxic. Great bloody news forty years after the fact!

Well we Aussies have our excuse... What are you yanks going to blame Very Happy ?

Cheers Erny.

I had a gal dentist one time(Korean I think.) She was really good!!! She did a root canal on one of my front teeth that never ever bothered me again!!! But I have taken to drinking Coca-Cola and it ate away the side of my tooth and finally had to get it yanked and then had a "fake" tooth put in. Now it is loose for some reason and I need to get in and have it redone. Not really a big deal I think, just don't want to spendthe cash at the moment. Cathy has pretty much been my main concern as far as making sure she taken care of and I have kind of put everything else on hold, and that is OK. But this dang tooth finally made me go and get it pulled!!!!! Now if I could just get some more Amway product to move through my webstore. I could go and get me all fixed up again and be back to a happy camper status!!!! And be able to make sure Cathy has all the time in the world to give me grief!!! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!! She will love that part!!! HA HA!!
