Not this kind of protein Slim....it is just downright evil, mean, wicked and nasty.

Hydatids can be transferred to humans and cause you all sorts of problems.

Hydatids

Nope, no way do I want to have this bugger inside me mate.

Cheers, Vince

Stovie, tapeworms can be treated using worm medicine..
Hydatids cannot!
they can live and breed anywhere in your body and you wont even know it.
You are literally being eaten alive.
Yuck

No problems Slim, and certainly no offense taken mate.

I remember many many years ago...you might have been taught this too Wiersay...part of surviving in an enemy POW camp involved eating just about anything passed your way. One of the things I was told was if you are given flyblown meat...scrape the maggots off, throw the meat and eat the maggots...pure protein they say...NOT FER ME MATE. Yuck Yuck

Stoves...you got a tapeworm mate...my Mum always told me I had hollow legs come meal time.

Cheers, Vince

Bunny bashing here is not only fun but a legal requirement for landowners & tenants, which means they are pleased to have the little grass eaters controlled for free by those of us who have the means.
Subsonic .22rf & a decent suppressor means they don't hear a thing as their warren mates fall over. Very Happy
Better end for them than Myxomatosis, which is an alternate control method but one heck of a waste of wabbits & causes extreme suffering.

I commuted to the UK 3 weeks a month a few years ago. I was always amazed to see how many rabbits there were hopping around the side of the road in the early morning. You had to give up counting. One of the Brits I worked with hunted them just like you described. He would use the top of his car as a rest. One morning he told me had taken a shot a a bunny and couldn't believe he had missed. Later that day we noticed a small crease on the top of his Jag. Barrel to Scope parrallax will always get you in close.

this year I tried shooting a rabbit with my Bow & Arrow. walked gullies and brush. only time we seen a rabbit was when you got close enough to scare it out. then it was running like mad. only gave me about a 2 second chance to draw the bow and shoot. I got close but not close enough.
we still got 2 rabbits that day with a 22. The one I shot it was sitting still.
the one my friend got was on a full dead run. he is a good shot to hit that rabbit on a full run.
oh, same day, he shot a goose with his bow, seen a wounded goose about 300 yards away, he stalked it down till he was close enough to put a arrow threw it.

we did not get much that day , but it was a fun day. allot of good walking and nature viewing.

Great stuff Ripper.....your last para sums it up perfectly mate.

You need to perfect your hunting / stalking skills mate. Most rabbits I see are still sitting, oblivious to my presence....until I do somethin' stupid like make a noise or move too quickly. Laughing

Good point. When out quail hunting I always stumble onto Jack's. I'm focused kinda up for the flush, these things take off on the ground like scalded cats. I'm tempted to pop''em but I'm trying not to make too much noise for the birds.

Now that bird season's over I wish I had popped 'em.

Maybe I'll hit the flats w/ the .22 and the 12ga with some #4 on the way home from the range monday. Glad ya brought this thread back up.

Stovepipe try a box of 36grm #3s they are just the ducks nuts on bunnies and have better range. just my humble opinion and my favourite load by far.

Good advice.
While bird hutning I use #8 or #7.5...those just bounce off the Jacks or barely wing them unless I get the whole load in them really quick up close. So I just lettum run.

I'll give it a whirl if I can find some cuz I'm down to my last 2 box of bunny loads!
#4 aint so hard to get...prolly have to order #3's. I'll keep an eye peeled.

Nutting like chasing those little cheetah's while racking a classic pumper. Man that's some fun. Cotton's are easier. Whistle and they stop and freeze a second and the open irons .22 LR has them then.

Wabbit huntin wules!
