I am the emergency management director for my township and need to get reliable weather information. NEVER, NEVER. NEVER go by the local media reports. We are expecting a bit of snow tonight. The TV and radio forecasts sound like a snow auction with enough numbers for a bingo game.
The more reliable sources of accurate weather information seem to be The National Weather Service (which is not allowed to hype the weather) or The Weather Channel. These folks are usually right on and forecast only a fraction of what the media hype reports.

Nation Weather Service is the best as far as I an concerned. The website is good and it allows you to see what is happening. Then you can make your own predictions based on your experience !

I use Wundermap Interactive Radar and Weather Stations when I want to check out what's happening to you guys in the US.

I don't believe ANY "weathercaster".
GrandPops used to say they "All live in cement block buildings without windows"...

I'm with Vince. I always check the maps and forecast on the wunderground. Gives me info to make a determination if the weather forecasters are to be believed. I even use wunderground.com to check the winds in the Hourly forecast to decide when I should plan to shoot. (note, the link is for the DFW area, just insert your zip code to see your area) |

over here on the west coast they say " If you cant see the hills it must be raining and if you can see them its gunna rain again soon" always take sunscreen and a good coat.

I'm a firm believer in sticking your head out the window and having a good look around.
The prediction is then "expect more of the same"
