I have had doubts about it myself. The airport I hunt has Caliber restrictions but the 5.56 is on there acceptable list and it is a Legal hunting caliber in MD so I thought I would give a try. I can't go much heavier than 62 grains with the 1-9 twist and the Barnes TSX is hard to beat so I think I have put the best round together I can for my Colt. If I can put the bullet where it needs to go at a reasonable distance I think it will do alright. I love my AR but if I end up with issues because of the round being inadequate I will stop using it.
Joe

Yer doin' very goodly there Joe.

Its a bit of a bugger though when you have to stop hunting ta catch up mate...maybe you need a nice big cold room so you can hang 'em while ya nail a few more mate.

Keep up the good work mate.

A very sensible and humane attitude to have mate...but then again, I would expect nothing less from you.

Good shooting, and it definitely looks like the bullets are doing their job ! I am not one who thinks that the .223 is too light for deer, IF the shots are placed right with a good bullet. I have personally killed a couple caribou with my AR-15 and seen a lot of other large game killed with .223s.

Your pictures show better performance than I was getting with my .243 100gr Nosler Partition! I've gone out and loaded some of the 62gr Barnes TSX and will give them a try in my AR. The bullet makes the difference! Thanks for the posts!

I'm very impressed. I've already worked up a load with 62gr Barnes TSX in front of 25.0 gr of Varget and am getting 1 MOA groups at 100 yards. Thanks for sharing.
