White tailed deer season opened here this AM and my youngest shot a plump little doe with my old Ithaca 37 with Hastings cantilever heavy slug barrel mounted with Bushnel scope. Made a 70 yd broad side shot with Lightfield slugs.
I had a doe 25 yards from me this evening and could not get a shot through the brush with 44 magnum DEP. Sad rather than risk a wounded deer, I let her walk. Did'nt spook her so she should be back tomorrow. Very Happy

The storm that came through the SE last week took down some trees here, and part of my fence. That killed my chance to hunt this weekend. I've been told that we are working next weekend... Maybe at Thanksgiving??

Just tell 'em "I don't work weekends during hunting season!" That's sure to get you a raise and much respect from all. Very Happy

Wiersey: I just got off the phone with my buddy in Minneapolis. He said his son has been deer hunting around his cabin up north. His son told him today that he is CONVINCED that there are only two deer in the entire State of Minnesota. Laughing

TCknight, there was that year that I put down vacation for every Friday during deer season. (Company policy being that if you have vacation on Friday you don't have to work the weekend.) Boy, that pissed some folks off.

I'm thinking that I should tell them that I can't work weekends due to my new religious beliefs. I'm joining the Church of Ted Nugent...

Those are the same to deer that seem to be standing in the middle of the road every evening about 6 pm. One of these days the Ram is gonna get one and I'm gonna be pissed.

There is a small hole in your theory....... it's dark by about 5:15 here in the north country.

And they know their safe on the road.

Next time I take the truck in for an oil change I'll have a gun sight put on the hood.

I haveta play inside the rules as the area I live in had a problem for a while with people that didn't like rules. Around here ya never know when the Warden will crawl out from behind a bush.
