I live in the 'burbs right now, and for the time being it is legal to shoot airguns in my county without being on a range. [s]Once in a while[/s] Often, some cop who doesn't know the difference between an airgun and a firearm tries to make an issue of it, but usually you ask them for the ordinance that equates airguns with firearms and they back down.
Anyway, I have found that my airgun is a great way to keep the vermin population down while maintaining my live target shooting skills. On my suburban lot, which goes uphill from the back of my house to a very wide right-of-way, I can find grackles, crows, grey squirrels, chipmunks, voles, moles, field mice, and roof rats.

What kind of airgun do you have? I have always been interested in getting one, even though I don't have a lot of use for it.

I have an 20-year-old RWS 36, which is not made any more, but it is basically the Model 34 with a heavier and nicer stock. It has served me very well over the years, and I made my best shot ever with it - I nailed a grey squirrel with a head shot while he was running down a pine limb full speed. The shot was about 40 yards.
About 10 years ago, when my eyes began to tell me they weren't young any more, I put a Bushnell 3x9 airgun scope on it. Best move I ever made. It is hard to miss with it now.

Lucky you, in Canada Air guns are considered firearms in most (if not all) town/city by-laws conserning "discharging a firearm" within city limits.

Man That sucks Dimitri. Here in Michigan we have indoor ranges @ our club(airgun/bow only) and they have pictures of deer, elk, turkey and others that are sized for scale purposes and we have shooting matches with them in the winter.

Crackshot,
We do have some handgun/airgun/22LR indoor ranges even in Liberal Toronto which are ok to operate and "forget" about the no discharging of firearms cause they are properly built ranges and are exempted.

Boy do i love living in AZ. The gun laws here are pretty lenient so it makes it a whole lot easier to use airguns and such. its fun to go out and just plink around with one. Especially when you have a bunch of pesky squirrels around.

There are air rifles and then there are AIR RIFLES. If you are interested in a 17 to 25 caliber, check out Straight Shooters web site. There are sites for big bore air rifles up to 50 cal.

Welcome to HuntingNut mulletboy. Grab a drink, pull up a stump and sit awhile mate.
Air rifles are a heck of a lot of fun. When I had one I would shoot cane toads in the back yard with it just for the sake of a little target practice...and to kill off a few of them nasty pests.
They are good on cats too.
Cheers, Vince
