I really feel for you man! Here in Maui we have hunting year round and you don't need permits or tags, all you need is a hunting license that is good all year. We hunt feral goats all year except for bird season (nov. - Jan.) Pigs from feb. - june and axis deer is pretty much year round on public land because they don't want them to take over our forrests. The bag limit for pigs is one pig (either sex) per hunter per day weekends only. For feral goats the limit is two goats (either sex) per day per hunter and they can be hunted on weekdays as well as weekends. Getting back to the axis deer, they are 99% non existant on public land and there is no bag limit. the majority of the deer here are found on private ranches or live right along the highways where they are safe most of the time. We don't have alot of game here but we are able to get out and hunt as often as we like which to me is a wonderful thing even if you don't see anything.

On the island of Lanai they have almost the same situation you do except the residents all get a tag. I am not sure about the other islands. Better luck next year and I hope you get a good one.

this kiwi boy is going to take the rifle for walkies at end of week. will get wife to drop me off friday night and pick us up sunday.only 100kms each way and I need to 'go bush' who knows might even bump into a deer. $0 to hunt over here no tags no limits just got to find em and lead em to the freezer.

Hey Elvis....you might need to borrow my hides mate...there just might be some "incoming" when the rest of the guys read that one.

Thanks for the concern Vince. got back ok. no deer seen but shot two porkers 500yrd from hut not far off major tramping track so got something for the freezer. best of all I managed to leave all that pent up stress from city living behind.:-]

Ya gotta be happy with that mate. I know I would.
