A very rewarding first day of 2008 season

Today was my opening day of this hunting season. Not everything is open yet, but black bear is and so are 4 point and better Mule deer in one management unit. So, I got myself out of bed close to 6 am, damn alarm clock, and off I went. Today was really only a scouting trip, but any excuse right... Laughing

Saw a few critters, nothing legal, but that's not everything is it? This one young bull Moose sure was hot on that cow...trying to get in on it before a big boy comes calling....Too bad my Moose draw isn't for another six weeks , but sure made for nice pics..... Very Happy

Nice pics Grant. The moose don't seem afraid of you...is that because they know it ain't "time" yet?

I take it that the "girls" are safe at the moment also?

Well Vince, the moose are not open yet and since the critters get a copy of the regulations before we do, they do indeed know they're safe. Actually in that region Moose are only hunted via limited entry draw, I'm scouting for mine in November.

The does are also not open except to draw. But, the 10th is when any Mule or Whitetail buck opens. So, tomorrow night, I won't be online probably, right after work, I'm gone huntin.

Come November, I see that bull again, yep...in the freezer he will be.
