One thing I should probably get since I am getting back into reloading and maybe casting my own rifle bullets.

Saw this one - Shooting Chrony Beta Master Item:IJ-222713
from Cabela's - on sale for $130, but wanted to check here first.

Denny

I've heard good things about the Beta Master. Though I have never used one. I have an 18 year old Pact Model 1 that has yet to fail me. If I need to purchase a new one it would be the up dated version. 'Course I'm a bit biased...

There are lots of good ones from economical to elaborate. The CED Millenium is one that I have found to be compact, easy to use/set up and it has good optics that allow more consistent and reliable readings that the several other chronographs I own. Check it out.

I'll cast my vote for the Chrony...if for no other reason than I have had one model or another since they first came out (though I have upgraded as newer features became available). Nothing wrong with the other suggestions either.

I used, shot and repaired one of Beta model..
I think Master model has a remote cable for the electronics and display LCD.
This made it much more "protected" and versatile.

Its a good chrony

I have used several brands over the years. I currently have and like the best that I have used so far, the CED Millenium Cronograph. Big numbers on the display for old eyes and if that is not good enough you can turn on the speaker and it will announce each shot velocity as your fire a string. With a serial cable you can download the data into a free program just for the CED. Give it a look see.
Chris

p.s. I also have the IR screens that eliminate missed shot readings in your string of test shots. A good option.
