Is it just me? ....
... As you watch the flooding in the Midwest , have you noticed that there
are no farmers running around with stolen plasma TVs or holding stolen
liquor over their heads. There's no looting or yelling "Where's Bush?",
"Where's FEMA?, Where's my check?", or "Why isn't the Gov't out here
saving me and my farm?"
You see the people living there filling their own sandbag's.
Likewise, I've also noticed there are no reports of any other country coming
to help or sending aid.
Shocking contrast isn't it???

We know what's going to happen. They'll be crying like babies.
In the past years, I've lost as much as $90,000 during one rain storm (peanut and corn crops damaged). Some of my neighbors had it worse. When that happens, you just pull yourself up by your boot straps and work twice as hard to get by.
I've even had that wonderful peanut butter company, Peter Pan, pull funding from the buyer and me ending up with about $80,000 worth of hot checks. It's not only the weather that farmers have to contend with. It took a law suit to get that back. Of course the lawyer took half. And no, I don't buy Peter Pan peanut butter.
And you're right; farmers don't run to the government crying to be saved. We’re an independent lot.
I'm curious, are there any of our members that have been affected by the flooding? We're in a drought down here. The last appreciable rainfall we have had fell last July (2007). Down here it looks like winter; everything is brown. We're already feeding cattle.
