Being a lefty the bottom ejection is perfect. Yes I know its not an older classic persay, but its still a classic design to me.

We both have Rem M700ML's and now I see we both have some of John's finest work.

Granddad bought a Remington version during the depression for $25. Grandma used to use it to head shoot chickens. I loved it as a kid and decided I wouldn't live long enough to inherit it, so when I got out of the Air Force in '74 one of the first things I bought was a Browning version. It's been one of the best purchases I ever made. Mine sports a Simmons 22 Mag scope and is deadly on clay pigeons and prairie dogs out to 200 yards. (Turns out the center reticle, where it transitions from thick to thin under the horizontal reticle is dead on at 200 - my daughter hit something like 9 of 10 clays at 200 one day.)

At any rate, I was right about not living long enough to inherit the Remington - Granddad still has it a 93 and I'm 54. Dad or Uncle will get it next, then probably older brother or a cousin...

My favorite is a mid '80s Ruger 77-22 that I bought for half price from a sporting goods store that was going out business. It has always been reasonably accurate, and I had a trigger job done for $15, and glass bedded the action, which improved the accuracy some. It wears a 4X Weaver Rimfire scope.

It's not quite as accurate as my newer CZ 452, which is another classic BRNO design, but in modern dress.

My next classic will be a 10-22 DSP, as I have never owned a semi auto rifle.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit that out of 21 rifles I don't even own a .22 rimfire anmore. I got so much into range shooting and long range varminting that for some years I really neglected the .22s. I'd like to get one, but I want it to be an accurate bolt model, maybe an Anchutz, but they are so darned expensive. I guess I'll just keep looking. Best wishes.

You guys are all youngsters. Laughing Classic 22's to my age group is Win 52, Rem 37, Savage 29, Rem 12, Win61, 62 or 63. Of course the Mossbergs are in there but if you could afford one you had a Winchester or Remington. I just bought a Win 62 in great shape and I can't wait to try it.
My 52a used a few years ago in a benchmark trial of ammo in the 10/22. It shot as good with irons as the Ruger did with a scope. I have a Savage 29 that will group in under an inch at 50yds with an old Weaver G3 and it's all steel with a forged receiver,
These are "classic 22 's". Of course you have to add the Marlin 39. That is on everone's list.
My favorite though is the BRNO #1. Very Happy
