The lowly 22 rimfire continues to dominate the market with more being sold than any other chambering. Of course, this is due in part to the cost of both rifle and ammo. While most youngsters learn to shoot with a 22lr rimfire, the fun is a lifelong treat and there are many upscale 22s for adults on the market today. So. . .

What is your favorite 22lr rifle(s) in your safe? Why?

If you could own the 22lr rifle(s) of your choice, which ones would it be?

Do you prefer open sights, peep sights or scopes?

What dictates your ammo choice for 22lr?

Winchester 9422, high quality and accurate. I have one in 22lr and 22 WMR. Simply a classic rifle, it is a real shame they are discontinued.

Currently, I have
Rifle
- Winchester 320 scoped
- BSA Sportsman Five Open sight
- Lithgow Open sight
- Springfield M6 .22LR/410 GA Open sight
- Savage 93G 22WMR Scoped.

Pistol
- Ruger MkI Open sight Bull barrel
- Browning Buckmark Open sight

Yeah, out of my few rifle and pistol collection, I have 7 of the quintessential .22 rimfire Very Happy

I would like to get a pump action or lever action type in the near future Very Happy got to wait for the finances and when the wife goes on holiday somewhere without me.

I use CCI standard velocity for my target and subsonics, and Powerpoint for my hunting loads.

Yes I think the .22 rimfire is still the best - never leave home (to hunt or to the range) without it Very Happy

Well, I have 4 .22 rimfire rifles:

Krico fitted with a 6x42 Nikko Stirling Gold Medal scope...my GO TO rifle for rabbits

Browning or FN (never been able to find out which) single shot...blow back eject with a 4x28 Nikko Stirling Tiara scope (a real old scope) on a hand made alloy mount

Lithgow single shot with open sights

Slazenger (Lithgow Model 12) repeater with open sights.

Range or hunting, the two rimfires fitted with scopes go with me. I only shoot Winchester Power Point in the Krico , and for the Browning I use Remington Sub Sonic, but I am having difficulty finding them now for some reason so I am checking out other brands of subsonic ammo.

Love .22 rimfires. They are cheap to feed and a whole lot of fun to shoot.

Cheers, Vince

I only have one at present - a left handed Cz452 American.
It's a lot more accurate than I am.
Some time this year I'll be getting a semi auto but I haven't made my mind up as to exactly what - maybe one of the MP5 lookalikes.

I got a Sears marked Cooey Semi-automatic 22LR and just under 300 rounds of Winchester 22LR ammo.

So far its has not gone out of the gun safe.

For that matter I went from pellet guns straight to 12ga shotguns and "high powdered" rifles (8mm Mauser, 30-06Spring etc).

NEVER fired a 22 in my life or any of the "intermediate" calibers like the .223Rem 7.62x39mm Russian etc. Laughing

I have 2 in the safe as of right now. There's a Ruger 10/22 target model topped with a simmons 44mag 6.5-20x44, and a old Remington Model 24 with the iron sights. If you are looking for 22 mags, there is a Savage 24J-DL 22mag-20 gauge over-under, a Ruger 77/22, and a Ruger 10/22.

I have a whole bunch of .22 rifles. My all time favorites are several Remington Model 581 bolt actions. They are very accurate and probaly the best bolt action remington ever made. I managed to find a mint used Springfield Model 84C bolt action that was identical to the first rifle I ever fired as a young lad. All the best...

Thats the next pistol I wanna get.. tell me more about it.
does it point well? any recoil at all? what do you think about the trigger out of the box? Do they make any speed loaders for it?
I always like revolvers but somehow, I got semi autos for my .22 pistols.

The 617 is the nicest revolver that I have ever shot G-Man.
I've had it for about 10yrs now.
There is no recoil at all.
I put a Bushnell Trophy scope on it last year, for competition shooting.
To answer one of your questions, the trigger out of the box, is perfect.
No creep at all.
I always shoot it single action, and, at 25yds, off-hand, I shoot the X ring out when I am shooting well.

I will say something that is the Gospel Truth, but won't be believed by many around here.
Using CCI Mini-Mag bullets, and shooting on a good rest, I will put five shots at 25yds in a group the size of a dime. Maybe even better.
The gun is a gem, and if you are thinking about buying one, do it.

I will try to have Ben show me how to get some pictures of it up later tonight.

Eric

Of all the 22LRs in in my collection;
Savage pre war 3D
Marlin 39ADL
10/22 carbine
Weatherby Mark XXII
Kimber hunter

I'd have to say the Weatherby Mark XXII is my favorite. Extremely good looking and unbelievably accurate, with the cheap ammo to boot! It will hit empty 12GA hulls at 100yds with deliberation. The kimber is slouch either. But all of them hold a special place in my heart.

I have three 22 rifles:

Ruger 10-22 with 4X scope
Marlin 39A with 6X scope
Browning BAR 22 with 4X scope

My favorite is the Marlin. If I had all the money in the world I don't think I could do better than the Marlin. It fun and easy to shoot. As far as ammo I have used just about everything and haven't noticed any great differences. I have a case of Winchesters now that were just replaced from the recent recall, they shoot just fine.
All my rifles are scoped, about 10 years ago I started having to wear glasses, I can't focus on the front sights so its scopes or red dots.

I only have one .22 left and it is a Browning BL-22. I sold all my semi auto and bolt action .22's. The Browning is a very accurate little rifle. I'm hoping to buy a Marlin 39A this spring, I have wanted one for some time and I think this is the year I get one. We'll see. I really like lever action 22's.
