Well I have bought yet another rifle. This time it is one of my grandpa's old varmint rifles. Remington model 700 chambered in 22-250. Heavy target barrel. The optics are a 15x Unertl fixed power scope. I will take a couple of pics and post them up tomorrow. I also bought my first gun safe too. It was also my grandpa's old Browning. I already have it completely full, and I still have some guns left over Shocked

Cody

I may be many things, but a photographer isn'e one of them. The camera is a Sony 7.2 megapixel, but it's stuck on 2 megapixel?? I will dink around with it and take some real pictures if I can get it working right. These don't do the rifle justice.

Varmints beware….

Super nice rig, truly an impressive setup. Classics too, not only the rifle itself but also the 22-250 chambering and Unertl target scope.
A fine combination for both targets or varmints. Cheers

Cody, that is one sweet looking rifle...truly magnificent also the piece of wood used in the stock is absolutely beautiful.

Nice to see that you have been able to keep it in the family so that you can pass it onto the next generation.

Never seen or heard of that brand of scope before. The spring on it is intriguing. I will have to do a little research on it.

Thanks for sharing with us mate.

Cheers, Vince

Hi Cody

Allow two observations:

1. The capacity of most gun safes can usually be doubled by removing the bolts (where applicable) and alternating the rifles muzzle up, muzzle down.

2. Unertl scopes are relics of bygone days and can't be considered for serious use given the advantages of today's optics. Now, here is where I can be of help --- send me your old, tired, heavy, clunky Unertl and I'll send you a nice NIB Leupold 4.5-14 AO. I am sure you will thank me for this generous offer.

Cody, Keep your Unertl scope, I had the same one on a replica sniper rifle I built and it worked just fine. Very Happy

It will take a little more than just the Leupy 4.5-15 to get it:D

Handloader.......you should be ashamed Embarassed trying to take advantage of Cody. Let's just say the scope is worth about twice what the rifle is worth, at least... Very Happy

Vince, you have seen the Unertl scopes and just did not think of it. If you ever saw a picture of a WWII US sniper you saw a Unertl. They are still used today in target work and were used as late as Vietnam on some US sniper rigs. The Unertal mount on an M-2 (ma duce) and its use on semi auto is a thing of beauty. The recoil spring is the telling item. The scope tube can move in the rings, returning to battery by the force of the spring. Just the scope rings and bases today are about $250.

Nice setup Cody. Clean (de-copper) the bore back to brite steel and you should have a great shooter.
Ed

YEP, Carlos Hathcock took out a Bicycle and the rider with 2 shots from an M2 50BMG with Unertl 10X scope mounted @ over 2000 yds.
