Dallan,

Only 308Win AR platform I can find that Remington has a stake in is the SR-25 rifles, as they manufacture the barrels for Knights Armament. Smile BUT they did put forth a semiautomatic rifle based on the AR-10 for the Army trials for a new semi-automatic snipers the Army wanted which Knight won in the end (with the SR-25) the US Marines call it the MK11, the US Army's version is slightly different and called the M110. Still havnt started to sell it to the public though. Wink

Guess it would scare Zumbo if I went hunting with one of them evil Terrorist weapons in the same area as him and he saw me. Same as any 308Win Bolt action rifle just "black" therefor it must be bad. Laughing

On a side note, that isn't a terrorist weapon if you wanted to call it anything with the name "terrorist" in the name the best name you can give it is "Anti-Terrorist Rifle" seeing as the US Marines, US Army (they placed orders) and the Australian Army is using them as well. Smile

Quote::
According to the Army Times, "the 20-round magazine and higher rate of fire also helps make the MK11 a defensive weapon"

Their words about the SR-25/MK11 not mine, see its a DEFENSIVE weapon not a OFFENSIVE weapon, eventhough its black and "scary looking". Smile

Good post, GarandFan.
The problem with Zumbo is that he should have known better! Now, his ill advised words will haunt shooters and hunters for EVER!

He is/was a respected outdoor writer, an "expert", and suposedly "In the know" regarding the powerful and ever-present anti gun organization(s). Thousands of shooters/hunters relied on him for accurate information.

He abdicated his responsibiliy to his readership. Apparently, that meant less than nothing to him. He knew , or should have known what the antis would do with his ill advised statements. Your inclusion is a graphic example. Context, no context, misrepresentation, or damned lie, it makes no difference to the Brady Bunch, if it supports their agenda.

His words, whether chemically induced or just plain stupidity, and regardless of belated apologies, HAVE injured members of the shoting community, regardless of his "Oops, I shouldn't have said that!"

The man should be summarily fired, and all of his outdoor endorsements cancelled. Show him that actions have consequences that are sometimes most unpleasant. He wasn't my favorite, but I won't read him any more.

I can safely say that it was a nutjob, in 1989 I believe, with a mini 14 and a 30 round clip that got us in Canada the firearms restrictions and gun laws we have today.

Pennsylvania doesn't allow me to hunt with a semi-auto rifle, it doesn't leave me feeling deprived, but I have no problem with those in states that do allow it. Worrying about what image we present to anti-gunners is like Bush worrying what the Democrats think. They are going to hate us and everything we believe in no matter what face we try to put on it. Sure play by the rules, but that doesn't mean you have to prance around these anti-gunners for fear of upsetting them. This goes way beyond the scope of hunting anyway. The Second Amendment wasn't written as a hunting guide.

1895,

Mini-14 or not they'd have put thouse laws on the general public.

Also note, in Montreal there have been 3 massicares that were done by wackjobs:

-> École Polytechnique massacre Commited by Marc Lépine on December 6, 1989, Used a Mini-14 and a 30 round magazine.
-> Concordia University massacre Commited by Dr. Valery Fabrikant on August 24, 1992, Used Handguns, Improperly bought using his wife as a middle person.
-> Dawson College shooting Commited by Kimveer Gill on September 13, 2006 Used a Beretta Cx4 Storm.

3 Wackjobs did the 3 major shootings in Canada, also happen to be all in the same place (Montreal Quebec). Shocked

Alcohol, tobacco and fire arms................WHO"S BRINGIN THE CHIPS?

It doesn't matter what type of gun it is wether it's an H&R Handi Rifle, bolt action Remington, M-16, M P 5, mini-14 or any of the others. All the affore mentioned weapons can be had in the same caliber, 223. The bullet is just as deadly no matter where it comes from.
