A few pics from this years week after the Elk.

I'm not done chasing yet, none of these guys were quite big enough this year so far. Now I'm back to weekend hunts.... Confused

Was a great week, saw lots of Elk, deer and even had a young wolf at 40 yards. So cool!

Grant, glad you are having fun. Hope you see more on the weekends!

how big are the round bales in the first photo????? ours are NORMALLY about 5' high but either that elk is a midget or they make them bales a heap bigger over there...that sure wouldv'e been an easy recovery.

Grant,

I haven’t killed an elk yet, so they both look good to me. I’m mainly a meat hunter, so not sure I could stop myself from pulling a trigger.

Good luck with the rest of your season!

That is the "Hollywood" effect, Elvis. The move the character further back in the scene to make them appear smaller or more toward the camera to make them taller (like Tom Cruise).

I have lots of meat left over from last year, two growing boys got older and moved out, my better half and I don't eat the meat that fast anymore. So I decided the Elk was going to have to be a biggun or not at all this year.

Elvis, that is a rare *Pygmy Elk*. They are a subspecies native to Northern Alberta. After the boom in medical marijuana, there are fields of the stuff up here, it turns out the Elk love it too, who knew, but they shrink in body size as well as brain size. Now we have a bunch of tiny Elk walking around that have a strange affinity for Doritos...... Cool

Hay bales are quite a bit in the foreground, not to mention the alfalfa was almost 3 feet tall still.
