No,I dont even know anyone who owns one.If I recall correctly it would have about the same performance as a .38 special. It was followed by the more powerfull 351 WSL ,which was still far behind the 35 Remington in performance.I am sure it would drop a deer with carefull placement at close range but I dont think I would be interested in using it.

Cool Check with your state DNR, I Minnesota it is not an approved cartridge but could be in WI. Not all cartridges are listed in MN also.

The 35 WSL pre dates the .351 WSL by a few years but is very close to the .357 Mag loaded with a 180gr bullet. With proper placement and within a reasonable distance you should be able to cleanly harvest a deer with it. Just be sure that you pick the shot and the shot doesn't pick you. Better to go home with a tag unfilled than leaving a wounded deer to linger and die. Also insure the firearm is up to the task, have it checked out for your pease of mind. Cool

Well ROKLOK now you know, well at least have heard of someone who owns and does use a 35 WSL for deer. Mine comes in the form of a model 1905 Winchester. the cartridge is very similar to the 357, in fact the ammo I use is made from 357 brass. They are legal in Wis. Out here in the woods the shots are sometimes as close as 10 yards. The 180g half jacket at a chronographed 1625 fps is very effective. Some of the older and even the obsolete stuff is really fun. Hope tha in some way we can all do our part to keep the freedom to own a 35 WSL or whatever.

mc223, good to know you,or at least hear of you Smile . Glad to know you enjoy using your .35 WSL. I figured you probably used one or at least owned one by your question. 180 grain at 1625 is definitely in 357 magnum territory as far as performance goes.I stand corrected. I saw some loads published some time ago that were more mild. The cartridge would be legal here in PA (any centerfire is legal for deer, even 17 rem) but the rifle, being autoloading, would not. If they were legal,I would have an old model 8 Remington in 35 Rem.
