I went out and bought a CZ 75 B today in 9mm.
It is a full size, all steel, double/single action handgun that I bought for Three Gun Competition. Everything I could find on the gun said it was reliable and accurate. It is also heavy but I won't be wearing it for concealed carry. It holds 16+1 and that should serve me well in competition. I have a total of four magazines, all steel so I can drop them without hurting them. It points well and I might try to see where I hit when shooting instinctively Friday when I take it out for a little exercise. I have thousands of rounds of 9mm brass, a couple of boxes of bullets, and more than enough primers but just a small amount of powder. I did get some carbide dies for it and a shell holder but I need to get more powder. I will stop at a few places in town the next trip I take so I don't think it will be hard to come by locally.

So, now is where you tell me all the horror stories that you have about the gun. (no ribbing me about getting a 9mm when I have said for years that they are no better than a 38 Special +P) in this use it will be fine and the lack of recoil is important in rapid target acquisition.

Sorry no pictures - my phone has a cord and no camera...

Just read a review of it...nothing bad to note other than the one a guy bought about 10 yrs ago, and he didn't like the stenciled on name and the baked on finish. Although he did say the finish was real durable, at the time he bought it for around $300. They've changed a bit now with safety improvements and better ergonomics. Houge makes a nice wrap-around grip for it. I like it's looks but it does sound a bit heavy at just over 2 lbs. but apparently points well and is very accurate. Sounds like a nice pick to me, have fun!

I've been carrying a CZ 75 P01 in the car for a few years. Probably should shoot it more but I've been happy with it.

I decided that I will shoot it Thursday instead of waiting til Friday. I just can't own a gun I haven't shot. I will try to get a target picture and a range report.
I only have 125 rounds to shoot so it is likely to be more getting to know the gun (without adjustable sights) and then after I build some ammo that groups well I can drift punch the sights so point of aim and point of impact is the same place. I am also considering getting some fiber optic adjustable sights for it. I just have to get to know the gun first.

I have never heard anybody complain vehemently against the CZ range of pistols mate. You have the right idea too...get to know the piece before deciding on it's quality and usefulness mate. Personally, I don't think you will be disappointed.

As for it being a 9mm...I don't think the targets will complain or know the difference between that and a .40 or .45.

Yep, my paper targets and the falling plates don't care if its a 22 RF or a 357. They just do what they are supposed to do.

Oh my! I just remembered that I am going to have to chase brass again... I HATE chasing brass! Confused Embarassed

Get yourself a brass bag that attaches to your hand or the gun mate. If you don't want the weight of the brass upsetting the balance of the gun when shooting, cut the bottom out of the bag so the brass just drops at your feet, making it easy to find and collect.

Not being a lover of the 75's, I shot my first IPSC match in Nice, France using a CZ75 and borrowed equipment. The gun I only handled the night before.

I came second overall (about 50 shooters, all Nice Customs) and the winner was using an open Tanfoglio (CZ clone) that had a 1.5# trigger. I got to shoot this gun and it was accurate but found the trigger too hairy for me.

I have since a number of friends CZ's and the are crazy accurate and a good bang for your buck.

I would not have a problem if that was my only gun.

You will be happy, everyone I know who has them are too.

Paul,
When I was shooting pistols 30 odd years ago the cz 75 was on my wish list along with a new browning hi power.
The couple of borrowed cz 75 I shot gave no issues and were more accurate than I was.
Its a quality bit of kit, get out and enjoy it.

Full size CZ 9mm is on my bucket list of pistols to have someday. Let's see some pictures!

Great gun with a great reputation !!!

It'll be a preference issue should you come to dislike it.
9mms are great competition guns if power factor isn't a issue. Loaded with 147gr bullets recoil and muzzle rise are hardly noticeable.

This is my reference target for the day. I fired more and even tried instinctive fire but found I shot very low instinctively and high when trying rapid follow up shots. The gun will take a bit of getting used to but it functioned flawlessly and has decent accuracy when it is earned. The grid is 1/8". The bull is 1".

Mmm.
The nut behind the butt seems to know his stuff, nice group.
The fact that you can actually see well enough at your age to shoot that well make me jealous.
I can see the foresight or the target not both, not conductive to the groups size above.

I concur Pete...that is a very nice grouping for 25 yards...about 1/2" low under 1" for the group. I'm like you...jealous because my eyes won't allow me to use open sights anymore, although a ghost ring isn't too bad...yet.

Realistically Paul, the accuracy delivered there is pretty damned good mate. A very minor sight adjustment (lower the foresight or raise the rear) and you will be spot on. Even with the current sight settings, I don't think you will have any problems with 'plates' out to 50 yards mate.
