After reading about the "Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2015" bills in the Senate (S551) and Congress (HR1076) I decided that I must take some steps about gun control. So I extended my membership with the NRA and gave a small donation. Next I'll try writing my congress-critters to tell them to oppose these bills. We'll see where to go after that.

These bills give a non-elected bureaucrat, the US attorney general, the authority to deprive you of your Second, Fifth and Sixth Amendment rights without any judicial process. If the AG says you might support terrorism, or might use a gun for terrorism, your name goes on an secret list. You are not notified that you are on the list and the information the AG used to make their decision is also secret. You become a "prohibited person" which means that if you already own a gun you could be charged with a felony.

After you are placed on the list you have 60 days to take it to court and fight the Federal govt to try to get your rights back. Of course this assumes that you even know you're on the list.

Please contact your representatives and tell them to end this nonsense.

That is insane Punkin. They can legally turn you into a criminal without your knowledge...then charge and punish you.

Ok here is a new law for NSW, we are not officially not allowed to keep ammo if we do not own guns in the caliber.

This create some problem with S&W 686, that is perfectly legal to own if you have the license for.
the 686 is made for 357 Mag yet can shoot 38 SPL with no problem.
Gun registrations register 686 as a 357 Mag shooter, yet since the last change of law, technically we are not allowed to shoot calibers larger than 38 SPL. SO those that own SW686 are forced to shoot them in 38 SPL.
Now with the new law, those that keep 38 SPL rounds are now a criminal since their guns are 357 Mag guns and they do not have 38 SPL gun to legally own them. And at the same time we are not allowed to shoot them since the 357Mag are too large a caliber to shoot with.

Yep, and who is a terrorist. Am I a terrorist because I am Christian, anti-abortion, and anti-gay. Probably.

.357 Magnum is too large mate??? Are they serious or are they playing games with pistol shooters?

I only ever used .357 Mag cases in my S&W 586 when I had it...I refused to use 38 SPL cases because they would scar the chambers.

Not to throw salt in the wound but what about your 300 whisper ???

I can see having issues with that cartridge being marked 221 !!!

Not a problem because that is a rifle cartridge mate. It's only pistol cartridges that could be a problem.

We make 300 Blackout rounds from .223 Rem cases and you can also buy 300 Blackout cases with the Blackout headstamp anywayz.

Ok, here is another one..

A bloke just sold his rifle and kept his old ammunition in the hope of buying another one in the same caliber int he near future.
Cops come and make inspection in his house, and found the ammo.
Now he got fine and face loosing his license for having ammo that he do not have the firearms for.

This is a true story.

We are really f'ed..

I sincerely hope we never go the same way here in QLD mate.

One way of getting around the ammunition problem might be to join an ammunition collecting group.

Pumpkinslinger nailed it. There are thousands of people on the "no fly list" ranging from elected politicians, law-abiding citizens to infants. Remember, Ted Kennedy was on the list. No one know who is on the list. It seems that one can be placed on the list for any reason or no reason. If these folks are really dangerous, then they should be charged with a crime, arrested and taken to court. That does not happen. That list has to be enforced or abolished. All the best...
Gil

The list is designed to be a way to remove a person's liberties and rights without all that "due process" legal stuff.

I see now that the FBI has STOPPED processing appeals to background check rejections. In other words, a clerical error can put you on the "prohibited list" and you have no recourse at all.

Just another small step in the process to ban firearms and remove them from the law-abiding firearms owners.
