Grey wolf,
8208 xbr is actually manufactured in Australia by ADI.
Heres ADI Equivalent chart,
www.adi-powders.com.au...alents.asp

Mike,
That has crossed my mind but as I've had the old .222 since 1980 and was the first centrefire I bought, she stays.
However Lithgow arms factory has recently realeased a .22 rimfire and have plans to release a .223 and .308 in the same platform, that I would give serious consideration to buying.

Cheers guys

Those bullets in a 223 should work okay. Twist rates range from 1-12 to 1-7 for the .223 with 1-9 being often seen in bolt rifles. My1-9 rifle seems to prefer 69 grainers at the highest FPS and 60's at medium speed. Best powders are 8208, cfe223 and varget. Interesting that the best of the lighter bullets I have tried is the Barnes varmint grenade. It also is fun shooting pumpkins with these. The results are dramatic.

Well there you go. 8208XBR, Ram Shot X-Terminator or Accurate 2230 are pretty scarce here so of course that is what works best for me. Mad

That chart shows close matches of burn rates - not necessarily identical powders.
Please always check the loads with the identical powder and bullet in the reloading manuals or from the bullet manufacturer.

(I know you already know that, I'm just a worry wart!)

Always a good practice, even when just changing lots of powder of the same kind.

As an aside, it pays to check actual manufacturer of any given powder to open new options. As an example, I have had 16 pounds of AA 2700 for years. I originally bought it for my .17 Remingtons since it safely gave me top velocities with ease of metering and safe pressure until the advent of CFE223. That left me with a lot of powder that only gave me so-so performance (velocity-wise) in any of the rest of my cartridges...at least according to manufacturer charts. Then I ran across an article about Accurate powder that clearly stated that it was the same powder as both H414 and W760, just different bottles even though current burn-rate charts show slightly different ratings. I tried H414 and W760 load-weights in my .280 and .30/06 (taking care to work up slowly) and found that those loads turned in statistically identical velocities and apparent pressure levels when using 2700. Maybe not the absolute "best" powder for the job, but certainly close and answers the question of what to do with all of that powder!

This is much like the "secret" that H110 and W296 are the same powder (though many fight the idea even though a phone call to Hodgdon a couple years ago confirmed this) and gives more options there too.

Sorry Pumpkin. I thought your "handle" referred to youthful misdeeds on Halloween ;-)

Mac, it is actually in reference to the old smoothbore muskets.

I called Western Powder in Montana (or whatever MT stands for) and they told me that X-Terminator and Accurate 2230 are in fact the same powder in different packaging. Thank you for the reminder about starting down a bit when changing lots. I do the same as many of you I'm sure, buy small amounts to test then bulk up on what works. Though that bit me with both the X-Terminator and 8208 XBR. By the time I figured out that they worked good for me ..... poof! they were gone. I have found six pounds of 8208 lately after a year of searching but can't find the others to save my soul.

Well I had another perfect day at the range today.
Result
Bloody brillant.
Using sierra 55 grn semi points ptno 1350, 19.3 grn of ADI AR2207, fed brass and primer put 5 shots into 1 ragged hole somewhere around .5 moa.
Now the hard part, finding more of these projectiles as the box I found was part of a stock clearout for a sports shop back in 1980.
Sierra still make them, just got to find them.

Vince ,
Its the 55grn blitzkings that wont stabilise in my .222. You wanna buy some :)?
The blitzking measures out at .825" the 55 grn semi point is somewhere around .710, 115 thou shorter.

I was looking at cleavers web site this arvo as well and I am wondering about the 1365's mainly due to the price roughly 1/2 the price of 1000 1350's.
Cleavers really need to do some work on their web site its sucks big time , QGE walks all over it in ease of use finding stock.

Thanks for looking
