The first part of this goes interesting without volume on. Sort of a sci-fi effect. Something rustling the bushes.......what is it?.....
Please do some talking in the next video and give us a run-down on what's goin on, I'd love to get a play by play of the action.

When a beagle turns on it's nose it becomes oblivious to everything else. With the myriad of different smells in the scrub, it is anyone's guess what they are onto Bushy.

Their running a rabbit vince. My dogs dont.chase gophers, mice, deer, squirrels or anything else in the wild. Rabbits and only rabbits....nothing else. They would get a sample of those shock collars they wear if they were on anything but the rabbit. If they ever run anything buta rabbit youll see new dogs in my videos that dont do it. Its hard to catch a rabbit on film when they jump him and he goes flying by your feet as fast as he can trying not to get caught.

As long as I follow behind the dogs you wont see the rabbit. Its not like a dog race where its in front of their nose and their chasing by sight, their tracking the rabbits scent. My off season videos show the dog work. If you want to see what their chasing, season opens November first my videos will be a lot different with a gun in my hand, or check out some of my hunt videos from last year. I understand most of you guys live in a completly different area with completly different terrain than me. If youve never been around hounds or.rabbit hunting(especially here in the states) my videos probably make no sence. Long story short the way its done around here we dont.just cut dogs loose and.they fly all over the place running anything that moves. We dont run fast dogs that line up side by side wind sprinting around the fields. They line up and work the track . We have competition hunts called field trials where dogs get casted out(turned loose)and they try to jump the rabbit. Once they do 2 judges follow behind the pack seeing who has the best line control(not weaving all over the place with no sence of.where the rabbit went), whose using their mouths right(not barking for the sake of barking)etc. Im simply just showng how the dogs work the track andwat they look like while doing it. In all honesty to a non houndsman/rabbit hunters my off season vids-as stated earlier-probably make no sence but once season starys maybe I can do some vids that give you a better understanding of what their doing/what i expect of them.

Ok...I understand better now mate. I had a beagle living next door to me for the past 11 years (unfortunately she died a couple if months ago), a beautiful dog with an magnificent nature. When she was outside her own yard, you could see when she switched on her nose, and knew that she wouldn't respond to verbal commands...it's almost like she didn't hear then.

We have possums, cats and other dogs around here so there was plenty for her to sniff out. Our rabbits out here are the European Rabbit. They build huge burrows and don't stray far from them. Most activity is early sunrise, dusk and overnight. There are some guys that use ferrets to chase them in their burrows, then there are guys like me that walk about with a 12g and a .22 rifle looking for opportunity shots, or I sit and snipe a warren (burrow complex) with a .22 shooting subsonics.

As Suz suggested, a bit of commentary, if you can without putting the dogs off, would give a better understanding of what is happening mate.

Yeah a beagle with no real training will go wherever its nose will take them. With my dogs(and anyone that I know.that runs the hounds) we start them on a tame rabbit at a very young age, then around 5-6 months-some sooner, some later- they go for walks in the wild. If a rabbit is seen or kicked up we walk the pup over and see if instinct kicks in. After they get the general idea(usually takes a few trips)an older slower dog that the pup can run with is introduced. A old/slow hound is.best because at first when the pup is learning hes not getting left behind its easy to keep up with the slower dog, then after a few trips out it should have the confidence to pick up its pace a little. They get ahead of the old dog, but at the same time if the pup messes up the old dog is right there behind it to fix its mistake until before you know it the pup aint making "puppy mistakes" and hes leaving the older dog behind getting ready to be introduced into the pack.

Our rabbits venture out of the mornings and have a range of up to an acre or more. They stay hidden in briar patches, blackberry bushes, brush piles, hinge cut trees, anywhere a hawk/owl/coyote cant get to them. So when the dogs jump them they go running way out, sometimes out of hearing but they ALWAYS return to where they were jumped at...and hopefully someone whose a good shot is within shotgun range and able to take him. We leave the rabbit laying until dogs get up to him. We hold the rabbit over their heads letting them all get a whiff or a quick nibble to identify that the race is over, time to find another one and repeat the process.
