Here we go again...the media are attacking firearm ownership in Australia because the Police were forced to shoot and kill a violent career criminal who was "possibly" involved in not one, or two but three shootings resulting in deaths over the past couple of weeks.

Vince, our 2nd Amendment only recognizes the fact that all citizens have the right to be armed for their own defense. It does make it somewhat easier to fight the "antis" when we have it in writing but they still refuse to admit that we already have the right. Call it a "God-given right" or "natural right" or whatever you like but ALL people have it. Obviously, however, many govts choose to suppress it. I've always said that anyone who wants to deny me my right to self defense can NOT be trusted.

In Australia, so I've been told, we have NO rights...only "abilities"...the ability to do "things" so long as we are prepared to accept the ramification or consequences.

We are only allowed to do those things the Government allows...and this is supposed to be a democracy.

I'm amazed that what is obvious to the rank and file (us) is unfathomable to the overpaid dicks in power.
Criminals by definition ignore and break laws, so the obvious answer is impose more laws on the law abiding. I'm obviously too dumb to make the connection.
It takes 5 yrs of study to become a lawyer, this is where most politicians evolve from, to reach university I would I imagine takes a bit of IQ so the obvious shouldnt evade them for so long.
Perhaps a year long course on common dog f*** should be a prerequisit for any political appointment, along with basic management and finance administration.
They should also have only the protection they allow the rest of us (dial 000 and wait to die) not armed guards who by law dont have to pass all the shite we have to pass to carry a concealed firearm.
As for the media, they have my utmost contempt, beatups and out right lies they all deserve water boarding.

I'm not.

They know restrictive firearms legislation & gun bans won't stop their use by criminals & they don't care.

Their intent is ever increasing social control & a consolidation power over the populace by a political "elite" no matter which party.

I'll guarantee that the number of handguns recovered from criminals or crime scenes far exceeds the number stolen from legal owners, thus blowing holes in the anti's argument that banning them will dry up the supply.
Heck; even in the UK where they've been banned for 15 years there are plenty used by criminals - they're allegedly easy to get hold of in Eastern Europe & only a small percentage of vehicles get searched crossing back from the continent.

I agree Mike, for some reason both parties want control of us peons, it is getting that way in the US and the people we elect don not listen at all to the people that put them in their elective position.

Here in my state is a rep by the name of Dave Loebsack does not believe the 2nd amendment applies to citizens of the US.

Even thou he is our rep for our district, he has his own agenda and hopefully will be out this coming fall!!
