Two days of hiking in 90* heat.

Kicked 10,0000000000000000000 bushes, at least.

Zero birds fer me. Sad

Had two birds jump 40-50 yards in front of me for some reason on Saturday and, fly towards a house ....gone before I could get my gun up. No shot anyway. I shot some bushes 10 yards in front of me well, just because. And I felt better. Very Happy I had some pretty high hopes of really cleaning up but...oh well, like the say- "that's huntin'!" Razz

Someone shot a Mojave green ratter (pic didn't make it???). At least someone killed something. Good thing too as them things is deadly and very aggresive from what I hear.
One of my club mates got 3 birds, another 4, another team found a covey and worked it good and got 15. No clue where that was. Yay for them!

Me?.... Back to hiking, sweating and kicking bushes.

Glad my club mates fed me or I'da starved. Saw 3 birds flush total. None in range.
I even had my lucky pants, shirt, socks and boots on.
Lucky I didn't get bit by a snake. So I guess the clothes were working.
Oh well, gun just needed a wipe down and put back in the safe.

I learned some spots though and, where the water is out there.
Actually saw a few (5) birds running in one spot....so I'll be back in two weeks. It'll be cooler and I'm hunting where I want this time. Nearer water and farm fields.

Thank God for beer and good club mates.

Here's some pics I took with one of them box cameras:

Day 1, Quail town:

Private 27y trap range for my club w/ clubhouse behind it. Have some breakfast, tune-up on the range, go find some birdies !!!...:

Breakfast before birds:

Birds after breakfast (14 or 15 of them, this crew found two nice covey's!):

Fixin's fer dinner...I ate like a HOG:

Buck the wonder dog, this guy is truly something else:

Partyin' hardy:

Pie's- never without, ever!:

Wicked cool stove/pizza oven in the club house....custom job:

Friendship fire:

Several Q's that get a killer workout on a regular basis- trust me there:

Day 2, sunrise over Quail Town:

Wise words:

Working a field with "Mocha" girl...she was pretty awseome and these two got 3 birds:

Snake pic didn't turn out so...solly! Mad

Thanks for lookin'...happy huntin'!

Maybe better luck next time Stovie..

Then again, it is not the kills that count.. its the joy of walking outdoor and having the opportunity to enjoy the great wide space.

I got to wait till next month to go try my luck next.
Definitely counting the seconds..

A bit unlucky Stoves...Gelan said it all though mate...just bein' out there is a win.

I'm sure next time we'll see a pile of birds with your name all over them.

Cheers, Vince

Chambered- hahaha, naw, it was a box/disposable camera. A couple of pics didnt' come out for some reason.... prolly didn't wind it enough.
Walgreens put's em' on disc for 5$. Camera is 7$. Easier on the budget when I have the rare occasion to record something. Frees up money fer ammo and gas.

Thanks for the encouragement Vince. Ego dented but I'm still motivated. Razz
I spoke to some other mates and they did a ton of scouting the week before and some spots were hot but most were dead, dead, dead. Lack 'o water put the kibash on some sports me thinks.

And Glen makes a great point. The 'doing' with friends, dog's, nature and beatin' 'round the bush is something we are and should always be thankful for. Cool

I reflected on that last night at our club meeting....during our STEAK DINNER. I had a cut the size of my head, with a tater, butter, sourcream, chives, corn, apple pie and vanilla ice cream for dezert. Shocked

Nice pics. I know how it feels when the birds win. Still great to be out!
