I'm supposed to be heading out Friday for my first run at some ducks with fella know. From what I hear things have been a bit slow in most areas but some are getting their limit.

I Have never duck or goose hunted. I have a buddy of mine, his son is really into it and has offered to take me . I just have to pull my butt off the deer stand to go Laughing

Joe, Waterfowl hunting is a social kind of thing. You get to go out on the water or into the field with friends, enjoy the sunrise, coffee, the company, and hopefully bring home dinner.

We went out this morning and had a good time shooting the breeze on the lake but didn't get to bring anybirds home . Saw a few dozen but none came into our decoys. LOTS of high flying geese passed by on their way south. They're out of season right now anyway.

That in itself sounds worth it! I'm going next weekend for the first time. I guess the season is slow there too; but maybe we'll get lucky!

I only got out a few times this year. Better than I did last year though. Like any hunting, go with people you enjoy, stay warm and dry and you can have a great time. Best of luck to you.

I am making my annual pilgrimage to Duck camp this weekend. I have 5 other guys coming down to southern Illinois to hunt some flooded timber and some standing corn near Horseshoe lake at the very tip of the state.

I cannot agree more about the social aspect of waterfowl hunting. I had to teach my son at a very young age, what is said in the duck blind, stays in the duck blind..... Some of the best hunts I have had were not the ones we limited out on.

For me the best hunts of any kind have been those with family and friends. The few times I have had the pleasure of getting away for a hunt with my brother and some of his buddies we have had great times, as my brother puts it, "drinking beer, smoking cigars and telling lies." Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
