Hi fella's. Just came back from the range with my new pencil thin barreled Ruger 77 sporter (beautiful gun), and found out it seems to like the Sierra 39 gr. Blitzkings at ranges farther than 150 yrds better than the 35 gr Berger HP's. Both are loaded over 25 & 25.5 gr of RE-10x powder in that order. I was going to use the 35 gr Bergers for my primary coyote, racoon, ect. varmint load. But past 150 yrd, the Bergers begin to open up and at 200 + yrds they group around 3 to 5". The Blitzkings group under 2" at 200 and under 3" at 300 yrd. So I would prefer to use the BK's. I like takeing pot shots at crows too, and I don't think 5" is smaller than a crow. My question is I know from talking to others that the 35 gr Bergers are excellent for coyote tough game, but are the Sierra's ? Has anybody used both bullets enough to tell which one will anchor game better ? I would like one load accurate and tough enough for all the varmints I hunt so I can practice and get good with the gun. Preferably one load for all occations. Opinons .......... Smile

That would be a .204 Ruger. I have little experience shooting anything bigger than a coyote with my .204s and any one of the current offerings has faired well. I prefer the 32 gr. BKs because they shoot better in my guns. With the Bergers I have shot a few of the 50 gr. in a fast twist and they would be my first choice for extended range coyotes.

The 39 gr bk's are super accurate out of most 204's, and have a nice high B.C. The only problem using them on yotes is that they are quite frangible. You have a higher chance of "splashing" if you hit bone.
The bergers are more durable and are ideal yote medicine. A tiny little entrance hole and usually no exit, insides are like jello.
The new 45 gr hornady sp shoud also be ideal for yotes. They were accurate out of both of my 204's, but have not had the chance to test them out on yotes yet.
