It finally happened, I bought a rifle over the internet and had it shipped to a local FFL dealer. I saw some military rifles listed on another site and focused on a Kar98k that was reworked by Yugoslavia. There were a series of emails back and forth about the condition of the rifle and the price. It was listed as being in mint condition with matching numbers. It arrived at the FFL dealer's shop yesterday and I did the paperwork and background check. It was exactly as described and I am thrilled.

Have to admit, it was a stretch for me and a crap shoot that turned out just fine. Anyone else have experience buying firearms on the internet? All the best...

I have an absolutely mint condition, BEAUTIFUL Rem 700 BDL .243 ... in LEFT HAND. Rem only made lefty 243's from 92' to 96' as I later learned when searching for one. It came with some rings I've never been able to figure out who made (intricate scrollwork etched into them) and a 4x12 Leupold VX-II. Owner bought it new and said it only had 30 rounds through it... it looked like it! It came out of hawaii and was one sweeeeet deal. I use it each year in Wyoming on Antelope.

The other rifle I bought online was a Lefty Win M70 in 7STW. The owner threw in Leupold rings and even RCBS dies for free. While the gun was immaculate I found out it had a minor feed problem due to a burr in the chamber (near the rear where the rim is) ... 30 min of careful work with some 1500 grit sandpaper and it was smooth as silk. Rifle is quite the tack driver with factory loads and has killed several elk now.

Doing tons of research is the key to knowing what you are getting... some credit card companies now cover you fully in the case of fraud so its a good time to be a consumer.
