Hi,

I am thinking about getting a new trail camera and can't decide which one I want, or if I want one at all really. I have a stealthcam 35mm one, but have not used it for a couple of years or so, can't be bothered with processing the film.

As usual you can find enough info on the web on any given subject to fry your brain. Well, before mine went too crispy I found this Recon camera anybody actually got any first hand knowledge of them, or can maybe steer me towards something that is tried and tested.

Cheers

John

www.nativeoutdoors.com...hgodulQBKQ

found this for you sir. hope you find what you're looking for.
I was trying to find the one that the Survivorman uses, for he goes through all kinds of terrain and temperatures.

I used to use my underwater 35mm when I went out camping and it worked fine till the strap broke and fell from the mountain side I was on, up around 12000'. needless to say I didnt retrieve it.

good luck in your search

I *highly* recommend holding off for 2-3 weeks before making a trailcamera purchase. Most MFGs are rolling out some exciting new models in the next few weeks that are worth considering. Trailcamera websites are awaiting these new models for testing and evaluation.

I'm waiting on the new moultrie, its supposed to be right at the $100 range, has new 3 month battery life, sub second trigger time and 2.1 mega pixel image size. Oh yea, all moultrie models for 2007 now come with articulating heads... meaning you hang your camera on a tree you can point the lens in different directions rather than trying to shim the camera itself.

Almost all of the trail camera mfgs are rolling out cameras with slick new features like this.

Thanks for that, I shall hold off for a while and see what is new in digital land.

Months have passed and Xmas is coming. Santa's helper wants to know what's hot and cheap in the trail camera world.

Moultrie I60 or Stealthcam I450. I450s tend to have occasional over exposure problems if placed under heavy canopy areas.

I bought a Cuddeback digital with infrared night shots in August '07 and so far I'm pleased. Daylight pics are 3.2Mpixel (I think) and look pretty good! Nightime shots are 1.something and still look good. So far I haven't seen any empty frames so I guess its triggering fast enough. It was expensive, about $400, so I also bought a locking steel box for it from Cabelas.
