I've always wanted a good bolt action but I'm a little old school and just want to shoot irons. What are some good iron sights that you guys use? Any manufacturers put decent ones on their guns? I've heard Savage uses plastic on their's Lame and Remi's seem to be good but I like peeps. Any aftermarket peeps to replace the Remington rear sight?

I agree that iron sights are neat and prefer adjustable aperture sights. Lyman and Williams make aperture sights that fit on many rifles. I have them on a Winchester 70, a Remington 700 and still others on lever action rifles. The older factory rifles were drilled for aperture sights. All the best...

I too really like a good peep sight.Currently I own 8 rifles with peeps. New England Custom Gunsmithing makes a peep sight that fits right on the factory Ruger built in scope bases if you happen to like model 77s.Williams makes a peep sight to fit the model 700 that simply installs in the rear scope mount holes. Many times you may need a different height front sight when installing a peep.I prefer Marbles bead front sights, they are available in many different heights and bead sizes as well as bead colors. All of these are available from Brownells.

I've looked at the Lyman and the Williams receiver peeps but was wondering how solid they are. I really would like something rock solid like military sites. I also was looking at Brockman's Gen. III sites. Anyone have opinions on those?
