Last week have a little disagreement with SWMBO and want to just get a way for a while, too lazy to drive so I go to the shed and started another knife.
This weekend I finish it.

I guess it will be called "Made In Anger"

O1 steel hollow ground deferentially heat treated to 60 HRc on the cutting edge and 50 HRc on the back of the blade, with Silky Oak with Red liner scale.

LOL its a thumb rest so you do not slip when it is all wet with blood I guess .

How do you do your hardening? Or, do you you send them away to be professionally hardened?

I got a forge mate, to deferentially harden I simply quench it at different rate.
It works since the blade is thin enough to handle it.
Thats why I hollow grind it.

No way mate... after a few hours I went back and grovel..

Beautiful knife, I love the squiggly file work on it too. You should try out some of that lace wood sometime, I think it comes from there. Oh I just looked it up...it's silky oak, same as what you used...northern and southern silk oak..if it's quartersawn it gives the best display of the grain flecks.

Wouldn't a gun stock be cool with some of that for inlays instead of the cross-hatching or checkering, it can be gaudy looking, but in small amounts it's a great accent. I swear if I was retired.....
