Thanks Slim! I may have that issue someplace, unless I gave it to a new handloader. I still want one but, unless I win the lottery, its a ways down the road.

Another idea I have in the back of my mind is to make a "chamber insert" in .300 BLK for my 12g shotgun. |
How will you hit anything with that? Do you already have a scope on it? |
Don't know how I missed this Slim...my apologies for not answering mate.
I agree that a chamber insert is not the most accurate, and I won't have any real sighting system other than the bead on the shotgun. With practice I am hoping that I can overcome at least some of the inaccuracy problems.
Down the track I will most likely investigate a scope, but it depends on the ability of the insert to group.
If nothing else, I am going to have a lot of fun going through the process.

I don't know how I missed this thread!!! I just completed my 6.5 Grendel a few weeks ago. If the 30 RAR is what your heart desires then go for it. But just like Slim loves his 6.8 I quickly fell in love with the 6.5 Grendel. Check out the ballistic on the Grendel I think you will be very surprised. I have to find it again but I have charts that compare it to the .308. My Grendel is built with all Alexander Arms parts but there are other companies making parts for it now.

wiersy111, the link is to a .pdf file that is 10 years old and based on calculations. The 6.5 Grendel does carry its energy well. The real-world data is better for the 6.8 SPC II. Most 6.8 shooters are using 130 to 140gr bullets for long range work, 85 to 120gr for hunting.
