Some where on this site someone posted the hornady website adveritizing a new cartridge for the tubular magazined .30-30. I am unable to find it so we will attempt to start this string (First try)

I e-mailed Hornady and ask them if they intended to supply handloaders with this soft plastic tipped bullet for reloading. This is what i recieved from Hornady...Quore "The bullets are not available for reloading" Tonya Finck...Unquote....

It certainly looks good for the 30-30 and 35Rem.

Let's try;

Hi all, Yes I am a newbee to the room.I have been on looking around in here for the past few days. I just got a new S&W460 XVR . lol And may I say there is not much reloading data on it so far. So with that in mind, I seen Dallan asking about the plastic tipped bullets ( I beleave we are talking about the same kind SST ) just in a diffrent size and just thought I would ask a question too all. Anyone know what the BC is of the 200 gr SST bullets in 45 cal. for this 460 Mag ? Hornady has no info on it ,on the web. that I can find.
By the way, Hats of to Dallan and BushMaster. I have been reading alot of your messages in here and I am looking forward to making this a #1 stop on the internet for Hunting. Thanks Charlie

30-30 bullets are fantastic in any 30 cal. weapon. Ruger '06 with 125 Sierra 30-30 flat nose slugs actually have a rather deep hole in them and are giving me 3100 fps and 45/8 groups. They turn a Texas deers lungs etc. to soup, not mush. I like 'em. gota

Fat fingers and my steak was done. My apologys. Tha post should have read 5/8 groups. I'll be using it this weekend to asuage my mental anguish of being stuck in civilisation since opening day. Enjoy and keep it careful. gota

I'll stick with hand chamber loading a soft point all lead bullet ahead of my flat points in the magazine...

I am glad hornady gave some extra life to lever guns. I think they have another winner on there hands. Lets get them offer it in 44mag and 357mag also.

Why does the venerable .30-30 need new life breathed into it. It serves the short range in brush or timber where a short barreled fast action rifle is needed. If you want longer range...Go to a higher powder rifle...LittleMagnum...The Winchester, Marlin and the rest of the group of lever guns are doing just fine. You can, however purchase a bolt action .30-30 that you can use real pointed bullets in and do better then the plastic tipped ones from Hornady...Of course you can also not buy any of Hornady plastic cartridges and reload your own in pointed and flat pointed, too...The latter is what I've been doing for years...

Welcome to the HuntingNut easy. I haven't tried these particular bullets but I shoot alot of Noslers Balistic tip and Accubonds witch have polycarbonate tips and haven't seen a issue with temp.

But shrpshterjoe...They (yours) aren't in a magazine end for end. Are they??? Sorry...I really don't see a need for these. At least for the Winchester .30-30...
