JR,
The only caliber that i have expirence in with the Ruger is a .243. Good luck with it though. Congrats on the new gun. What are some of its ballistics?

I'm in the process of putting a 204 together on a Savage action. Just wait'n on the stock and finding brass. I recently talked to one fellow with a factory Savage using 26g-748/32 Vamx that was shooting in the high 3s' after the initial break in. Brass seems to be the tough item at the moment. I have 200 rounds ordered, but when I'll get them is another matter.

Here is the link for some loading data.....204

As you shoot this new .204Ruger please keep us informed on your group sizes. I'm sure many of us are interested in this new cartridge but want to know how it shoots before buyibng one. We hear much about it, but few shooters are posting the sizes of their groups. Best wishes.

Thanks for the replys, the (advertised) ballistics for the 40 gr Vmax: 3900 FPS, 100 yds =.07, 200 yds 0.0, 300 yds -4.3. This "appears" to shoot flatter than any other cartridge I know of. I hope to get to the range this weekend (weather permitting) and see what this rascal will do. I'll let you know group sizes when I do. The Accu_Trigger, although new, seems really crisp. Notably better than my TC Contender and my Remmington 700.

Check the 22-250, 220 Swift, 220 Howell, and maybe the 17 Predator.

I got bit by the 204 bug and now have a Browning A Bolt sitting in California's waiting period jail. Sad Have brass and ammo on backorder at Midway. Cabela's claim to have ammo available including Winchester Varmint and some bulk load stuff. Since it's raining again I have been running ballistics charts to see what the 204 will do. Check the link to see the comparison between the 204 and the 22-250. What do you think of the new cartridge? Question

204 Vs the 22-250

Hello, I have a SAVAGE! It is just pure accuracy out of the box. I'm going to reload for it this summer.

The gun is a real bargain for the price. It shoots groups of .325 @ 100 yards, using the 32 grain Hornady.

Fact is, it just blows everything away @ 275 - 300 yards. It is a trill to shoot. NO recoil and you can watch your taget "tip" in the scope. 10 power, fixed with dot Bushnell 3200. Just love the entire rig!

Seedsntrees, thanks for the encouragement! I haven't had the opertunity to shoot mine yet. I choose for the 40 grainers instead of the 32's. Just as soon as I get the chance to shoot, I'll let ya know how it turned out. I assume that the wind was mild (or non-existant) the day of your shoot. Did you get the heavy barrel or tapered?

Well, the UPS guy dropped off the Stockade stock and I went to work. It took very little work getting it ready to paint. A quick skim coat bedding, some primer, wet sanding with 400 and it was ready. I painted it yesterday afternoon, left it dry overnight and stuck it together this moring. I'm not sure I like it or not yet!
What do you guys think?

Lets vote. Keep it like it is or repaint is purple?

I like it a lot, keep it how it is. I cant say I have ever seen a purple stock before, so I dont know if I would like that more. Nice rifle congrats.

Interesting Paint Job!

I'm sure that it won't provide any glare once it is in the SUN. Interesting!

That stock has a wide & flat forearm...make a good piece to place over a sand bag.

Jim, I'm going to load the 40 grain BERGER over VARGET and RL-15. I think I can reach 3900 FPS. The barrel is a standard barrel but is heavy. The SAVAGE twist is 1-12.
