I keep thinkin' that it was the Greeks that had only male actors and some of them had to portray women. Isn't that right Big D? I know the Japanese didn't allow their women on stage either.

Female actors in most countries/cultures were not allowed on the stage (save for Opera and Ballet) up until the last 150 years or so.
All the roles in Shakespeare for example are all men. They even took it one step farther then any other culture and they would castrate the boys before puberty hit so they'd sound more like women to make the plays more real sounding. 
I'm still waiting on picture proof if his aunts are cute or not.
