I normally don't do the internet petitions but this one is a good one. It goes the people as an e-mail not a list of names. They want to close 220 sate parks in California. Many of them are historical as well as nature.

Please help.

State and National Parks should be sold to private enterprise in order to preserve, protect and interpret them at the highest level of quality. There is little that state or National park, recreation area or historical site systems accomplish that couldn't be done more effectively and efficiently by private enterprise. And, for profit as opposed to the continual drain of tax dollars, despite outrageous entry fees to those that have already paid their taxes to support them. Sell them all and reduce the national debt. Let them be operated properly and for profit.

I hear what you are saying Handloader...but unfortunately I must disagree with you mate.

I believe that Politicians need to understand that they DO NOT own public property, lands or assets, the citizens do...the elected Government of the day is only the caretaker. I also believe that they should not have the right to sell off these assets as they see fit, regardless of the fact that are elected officials. This is one of my biggest bugbears with Governments.

I have seen Public Lands and assets sold off here in Australia and it isn't very long before those same lands and assets were completely lost to those that technically owned them in the first place...the citizens of the State/Country.

It is unfortunate that as soon as a public asset goes into the hands of private enterprise then it is handled as a profit making asset by that private enterprise. Their priorities and loyalties lay with their shareholders and financial backers...not the general public. If allowing access to these now PRIVATE lands cost them money, or they feel that the cost of maintaining them is excessive, then they go on the market and they are gone... forever lost to the public.

So mate....no...definitely do not allow ownership to pass to private enterprise. By all means contract the management of these lands to private enterprise, but do not sell them.

Cheers, Vince

I agree .Public land is not to be sold every time you get short of cash .

+1 Vince.

Being a resident of SoCal, it's hitting us hard. Many OHV areas are closing, State Beaches, etc.

Almost every time I've seen a land closure due to funds, it is not long untill it is sold. Then it's not long untill it plowed and homes pop up.

This State has failed. Completely and literally. There is no industry, and,
it won't be long untill it's just houses and apartments stacked on top of each other. Real Estate is about the only industry we have now.

Farming is even going to take a hit due to the so-called drought.

Not to mention then's of thousands of teaching jobs have been eliminnated and schools are closing left and right.

Meanwhile, Obama and his Super Pals are partying hardy.

This State is in a bad way while $50 billion in bail out goes to a failing car company.

Funny thing mentioning the car companies but no mention of the 7oo+ billion that went to the banking industry and their bonuses they got in the process!!!

I’m willing to bet you drive a Toyota or some other import !!!

Stovepipe...Feel your pain. I saw this coming in 2006 and sold all my property, retired and left the USSR of C.

If anyone would like to know how socializm works. Ask Stovepipe.

The public land is just that. PUBLIC LAND!! Only the public should have the say so in what becomes of that land. Not ol' Schartzy and his cronies...Not only that, but the state parks even belong to those who live outside california. Key word here is PUBLIC LAND!!

Good on ya for getting out in time, Bushy. You did the right thing and just in time.

I've got 4 more years to go. Then off to Arizona.

My mates here have more at steak than me.
They have kids and are genuinely worried about how to pay for private education as the public schools here suck and are simply not an option.

How did a State with the 6th largest economy get so bad? Too much government, socialist poilcies and freeloaders.

This state is not even a shell of it's former self and it's been drained it bone dry.
