Personally, I use Speer Bullets in my rifles and Laser cast in my 1911.
I purchased a Speer Manual and have not looked Back.

.257 100 grain boat tails

.338 200 grain sp

I did try some Barnes varmint bullets in my 22 hornet but didn't find them all that great.

The 1911 just seems to like cast bullets, they shoot clean and have no problem hitting the things I shoot at.

.451 230 grain LRN

Howdy Longwalker. Ya forgot Nosler. I use 99% of the time Nosler from varmints to deer. They have a great selection of bullets and i have had fantastic accuracy with them. I love the new accubond i haven't had a field trial with them yet but hope that changes sat ( opening day of rifle ) i have some 150gr 30cal loaded up for the 308 witch shoot very well. I have used Nosler bullets for about 15 years and they haven't made me want to look any where else.
Joe

Where are the multiple choice options?? LOL

I love Sierra GameKings for plinking and whatnot, great accurate bullets. I like Speer 55grn BTs out of my .22-250 but I love Nosler Partitions for hunting loads. I also love Hornady XTP's in my muzzleloaders. I have factory rounds loaded with Swift's that are excellent.

Out of your list Barnes is the only thing I've tried that I didnt like. I shot 1 elk with a XLC and it was devestating but accuracy was just bleh with them. I might try some Trippleshocks but they are kindof pricy to try just as an experiment.

Well I didnt vote in the poll .. Yeah Barnes to me have so so accuracy , but they work good .. XLC's are godawful to clean up after ..
I dont buy premiums unless I find deals on ebay or at shooters pro shop ..
Speer and Hornady are my most used , as well as Sierra .. Always keep a few hundred Noslers laying around as well ..
Jack

For me I use Hornadys in my 30. cals. because I've had great luck on deer and elk with them. In my .223, keep going back to 55gr. Hornady Vmaxs because they're very accurate in that gun and do a number on Praire Dogs. Use 115 gr. Nossler Bts in my .257 Roberts because its the only bullet I've found that shoots decent in it, and it also performs very well on deer.--tr

All of the brands in the poll can be found in the reloading room along with brands not mentioned in the poll such as Nosler, Lazer Cast, Woodleigh, Berger, etal.

Re: Barnes. If you have had mediocre experiences with the X bullet you should try the TSX. It resolves all the issues reloaders encountered with the X style and, in several of my rifles, is the most accurate bullet used to date. And, now Barnes comes out with another wunderbullet, the MRX!

Well

I voted for Barnes. Reload for 18 rifles and shoot TSX's in all but one of them. The one oddball is my lightweight 30-06 that I shoot the 200 grain Accubond in. Tried the 200 gr TSX but it was too long to stabilize. Wanted to shoot the 200 gr at 2700 fps in order to fit the TDS reticle.

In the past I tried the regular Barnes X and gave up on Barnes for a while. Bad accuracy, lots of fouling, and that blue coating sucked (clogs up a seater die). The old X and the new TSX are as different as SMK's and Partition Golds. If you tried the X's and didn't like them, don't badmouth the TSX's cause they ain't the same! The accuracy in the TSX's is outstanding!

Just got back from Elk hunting the Colorado season Nov 16 - 20 and got at 5x5 about 700#. Had to shoot him at 245 yards across a canyon when he was bedded down (it was getting late and he didn't look like he was getting up anytime soon). The first shot went in right over the hind quarter about 2" off the backbone, broke 2 ribs and came out the chest. He jumped up and the next shot went through the front shoulder and came out the far shoulder. He was down. The innards were jellied and there was not much ruined meat. Used a 300 win mag with 180 gr TSX on top of 76.5 gr RL22 at 3125 fps. Gives you a lot of confidence to take that kind of shot when you can consistently shoot 1/2" groups with TSX's.

As soon as the first Elk was down, 3 larger 6x6's jumped up and stood around wondering which way to run. Figures Sad

I voted Barnes, however, all makes have their place with me, it was just Barnes (X and Solid) that would give me consistency with a few more rifles than others.

Barnes is probably the best, but they're so blasted expensive. I usually use Speer for the most part and am quite satisfied with them. I also have a lot of faith in Nosler Accubonds. There are quite a few good choiices available to us. Best wishes.

You should have added another catagory, "other".
I use Sierra Game Kings in my 243 and 308.
I use Oregin Trails "Laser Cast" in my 45/70 and 44 mag.

I'm thinking most of you guys are in much better shape from a resource stand point than me.
I shoot Hornadays because they work on the 357.......and they are cheap.
I use Sierra with the 243 because they are very accurate and.....yes inexpensive. I realize on the little buck my daughter took this fall a better constructed bullet may have exited the off side, but her shot was true even at 160yds, and he only went 50yds. We didn't need the extra blood trail. I have been teaching her how to track. I use Speer sometimes in the 357. I also use Sierra in my Hornet barrel for same reasons above. (Got a TC Encore in 243 and Hornet) We don't have an armory of guns but certainly make the most of what we got.

I couldn't vote, You forgot Nosler. I use Nosler Bullets in everything I shoot except my 7.62x39. IMHO Nosler wins hands down.

Has anyone ever tried Remington Bulk SJHPs. I believe those on a limited budget are missing a bargin here. I use Remington 140 grain SJHPs in both my .357 magnums and .38 Specials. I've taken Blacktails using these bullets in my Colt .357 mag 4 3/4". They tend to be very good stoppers. Not to mention inexpensive target loads.
