Two crow stories:
When I was growing up in OK, the old timers used to tell stories about dynamiting crows. During the depression the flocks were so much of a nuisance that people would tie charges up in the roosting trees and then light the fuze at night. FLASH, BANG, BLACK CLOUD!!
I can't find anything about the crow dynamite season in the CA hunting regs.
Also, while growing up in OK, when I was about 12, the crows flew across the back pasture of our little acreage. Adjacent to our property was the large cotton farm that granddad sharecropped. Nothing in back of us for about a mile save sandy cotton fields. I'd take my 22 single shot out and, using shorts, pop at crows flying across the pasture. Occasionally, one would suddenly nose dive at my shot, then fly on. I thought this was just a close shot. Then one evening one nose dived and piled up in the pasture. Excited and accompanied by my dog, I took off at a full run to inspect my kill. It was a clean kill, one shot throough the eye!
Believe it or not!
